Vancouver Round-up
Last Saturday, the Whitecaps played their final away match of the season against a solid FC Dallas, losing 2-0.
Recent Results
The Dallas defenders shackled the ‘Caps comfortably and a goal from each of their formidable midfielders Brek Shea and Martin Chavez, with their 11th and 5th respectively, was more than Vancouver could surmount.

The result means that the Whitecaps have finished their away slate of matches for 2011 with a very poor record of no wins, twelve losses and five draws. Clearly, this will be a major project for improvement next season.
Next Match
On Saturday, the boys of the Lower Mainland will close out their year with a home match at Bell Pitch versus the Colorado Rapids.
The Rocky mountaineers will be a wild card playoff entrant, placed #3 at present, and with a win against the Whitecaps they could move up to the #2 wild card position. This would make a significant difference as they would be guaranteed to host a playoff match, as opposed to having to travel. Expect a highly motivated team that will push the Vancouver crew.

State Of The Whitecaps
International Round-up
There are no immediate World Cup qualifying round games on this final league weekend.
Infirmary Report
There are no changes here with the most significant player, Atiba Harris, remaining on the injured list to close out the year.
Watching the Wave (Editorial)
The Vancouver Whitecaps will enter their final competition of this season assured of the chance to avoid finishing as the poorest team in the league. They are at 28 points, with the Eastern Conference’s New England Revolution one back at 27 points. A win in the final home fixture would preserve that lead.
It is hardly the goal they would have sent for themselves at the outset of the season, but it would be a small victory of sorts for a team in disarray just a few short weeks ago. However, a competitive month highlighted by some notable performances, particularly by the gifted Camilo and his welcome goals, saw the team pick up valuable points.
Saturday will also be Fan Appreciation Day for the loyal Vancouver supporters. Ideally, the ‘Caps can summon up a win to thank them for their dedication and end the year on high at their spanking new facility.
