Hawaii vs. Washington – Week 2 Recap

UW – NCAA Football Game Summary

The Huskies are 2-0 and they escaped with a big home win over the Hawaii Rainbows this last week beating them 40-32. The defensive problems were shown that win, but the Huskies did burst out of the gates in the game scoring 21 points in the first quarter.

UW Keith Price completed his first 8 passes and overall he passed for 415 yards with 4 TD and only 1 INT.

The Huskies did let the Rainbows back in the game, but they got the W and while they have to travel to the nation’s heartland to face 10th ranked Nebraska next week they will go into that game with a lot of confidence.

Huskies defeat Warriors 40-32 In Week 2

After Hawaii QB Bryant Moniz rushed for 121 yards and 3 TD’s against Colorado in the Rainbows first win he was held to only 2 yards in 9 carries against the Huskies.

This is HUGE for UW, who will face Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez next week, who has 301 rushing yards with 5 TD in only 2 games this season.

The Huskies have their work cut out for them facing Nebraska in their house next Saturday, but they did beat the Huskers 19-7 in a big upset in last season’s Holiday Bowl.

It is interesting that Washington forced Nebraska into 2 turnovers in last season’s bowl game and also forced Hawaii into 2 turnovers last week. The Huskies may have to come up with some turnovers next weekend on the road or they may be in big trouble.

Price did not make an incomplete pass until the 2nd quarter against Hawaii, but he will be facing a much better Huskers’ secondary, which may be one of the best in the nation.

UW RB Chris Polk rushed for 107 yards with 1 TD against Hawaii, but while he did average a decent 4.9 yards per carry facing Nebraska next week he really has to step it up.

He rushed for 177 yards in last season’s Holiday Bowl and he will have to have another big game for the Huskies to pull off the HUGE upset.

UW has to play good D and they will have to create some turnovers in this game, as Nebraska will have some revenge on their minds.

Still, Washington is 2-0 and they have some mojo heading into their next game against Nebraska after holding on to beat a solid Hawaii squad.
