Washington 38 Nebraska 51 – Week 3 Recap
Venue: Memorial Stadium, LINCOLN, NE
Attendance: 85,110
Washington suffered their first loss of the season and they had their 6-game losing streak snapped in a 51-38 loss to Nebraska in the nation’s heartland.
The Huskies played well on offense in the win and while Kevin Price passed for 274 yards with 4 TD’s he was picked off twice and they went into halftime only trailing by 3 points.
Problem was they came out flat in the 3rd quarter, where even head coach Steve Sarkisian said the Huskies had a “complete meltdown.”
The teams traded scores in the first half with Price passing for a couple of TD,s, but Nebraska QB also tossed a couple of TD’s. In the 3rd quarter the Huskies were penalized for 20 yards on a play and RB Rex Burkhead punched it in a few plays later.

He scored only 9 seconds later on another 1 yard run after Bishop Sankey dropped a kickoff return.
UW tried to make it a game in the 4th quarter scoring 21 points, but their D could not stop the Huskers from scoring 10 points in the last quarter to preserve the 13 point win.
UW RB Chris Polk had a good game rushing for 130 yards averaging a legit 5.9 yards per carry and while Price did his job the defense and special teams killed the Huskies.
The Washington defense gave up 464 yards of offense including a whopping 306 rushing yards and on top of that they turned the ball over 3 times.
The Huskies showed that they can stay with elite teams, but to get back to being elite their D will have to play better than they did against Nebraska.
Next Up: The Huskies begin Pac 12 play next week facing a Cal team that is 3-0 and has a good all around team.
Last season in Berkley Washington beat Cal 16-13.
