Baylor is a 9.5-point favorite in this game with a sky-high total of 78.8.
These teams finished the season heading in different directions, as the Bears won 5 in a row while the Huskies lost 3 of their last 4 games of the season.
Let’s take a look how these teams match up:
QB
Baylor’s Griffin won the Heisman this season and almost passed for 4,000 yards and had 36 TD and only 6 INT. On top of that he was the Bears’ 2nd leading rusher and since he is a great duel-threat QB he is great at avoiding the pass rush. Washington’s Keith Price had a solid season passing for 2,625 yards with 29 TD and 11 INT.
He can get out of the pocket to escape a pass rush, but a RGIII he is not. EDGE: Baylor
RB
Griffin is joined in the backfield by RB Terrance Ganaway 1,347 yards 16 TD and these guys lead Baylor and their 18th ranked rushing offense. Ganaway rushed for nearly 400 yards in his last 2 games of the season.
Washington RB Chris Polk had a good season rushing for over 1,300 yards this season with 11 TD’s.

Baylor's Griffin won the Heisman this season and almost passed for 4,000 yards and had 36 TD and only 6 INT.
He rushed for over 100 yards in the last 2 games of the season. Both Ganaway and Polk are solid, but the Bears have a better rushing offense since Griffin had 644 rushing yards. EDGE: Baylor
WR/TE
The Baylor WR duo of Kendall Wright (101 rec 1,572 yards 13 TD) Terrance Williams (53 rec 895 yards 11 TD) are a great combo and the Bears have 4 WR that have more yards than the leading WR of Washington in Devin Aguilar (36 rec 524 yards 4 TD). Baylor will have to watch out for Kasen Williams (33 rec 408 yards 6 TD’s) . EDGE: Baylor
Run Defense
While Baylor has a great offense the same cannot be said about their defense. They only rank 102nd in the nation defending the run while Washington ranks 55th.
Still, the Huskies gave up a ton of rushing yards facing the ranked teams of Stanford and USC, but are still better against the run. EDGE: Washington
Pass Defense
There is a reason the total for this game is so high, as both teams have the passing offense, but each has a weak pass defense.
Washington ranks 116th in the nation defending the pass, out of 120 FBS teams, and Baylor ranks 112th. EDGE: PUSH
Coaching
Baylor’s Art Briles has had a great season guiding the Bears to another bowl game and when he was at Houston he led Houston to the Conference USA Championship.
Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian has resurrected a Huskies’ football program that was a joke a few seasons back with an 0-12 season and even led the Huskies to an upset bowl win over a ranked Nebraska team last season. EDGE: Washington
