Washington Huskies vs. USC Trojans Week 11 Handicapping Preview

UW (6-3) at UW (7-2)

The Huskies are coming off a big loss to Oregon where their offense struggled and their defense could not stop the run. Washington has already qualified for a bowl, but they can improve their bowl situation with a win over USC in La La Land this Saturday.

Washington Huskies (6-3) @ USC Trojans (7-2)
Saturday, November 12, 3:30 p.m. ET
Los Angeles Coliseum, LOS ANGELES, CA
Favorite: USC -11.5

The Trojans are not bowl eligible this season, but they almost spoiled Stanford’s chance to play for the BCS title and can send the Huskies to their 2nd straight loss if they win this home game.

Last season in Southern California the Trojans lost to the Huskies 32-31 so SC may have a little revenge on their minds.

One of the main reasons that the Huskies are big underdogs is the play of USC QB Matt Barkley, who ranks 3rd in the nation with 28 TD and 12th in the nation in passing yards per game. WR Robert Woods is his main target and has been stellar this season with 90 rec for 1,121 yards and 11 TD.

Washington Huskies (6-3) vs. USC Trojans (7-2) Handicapping Preview

Barkley and the USC pass attack have to be a BIG concern for Washington since the Huskies’ pass defense ranks 113th in the nation out of 120 FBS teams.

USC does not have a one-dimensional offense, as they can also move the chains on the ground. UW has a decent run defense, but they were torched last week in the 34-17 loss to Oregon and if the Huskies cannot keep USC from racking up a ton of rushing and passing yards their offense will have to do the same to have any chance to win.

Is UW for real? They have only played 3 good teams this season and were blown out in all 3 games.

UW Huskies vs. USC Trojans Week 11 Handicapping Analysis

With USC and their solid offense coupled with the issues the Huskies have on defense the 2 guys that MUST play well this Saturday in Tinseltown are QB Keith Price and RB Chris Polk.

Price struggled last week and while he had 2 passing TD he had 2 INT, only 143 passing yards, and averaged a weak 4.1 yards per completion. At least he will not have to deal with a great Trojans pass rush, as they only have 16 sacks in 9 games.

Polk really could not get it going against Oregon rushing for 80 yards averaging only 3.3 yards per carry.

Price may have to shoulder the offensive load in this game, as USC has the nation’s 18th ranked run defense while their pass defense only ranks 104th.

UW vs. USC Prediction:

Want to go with the Huskies, but they have too many question marks, especially on defense, and they have not shown enough against good teams, which is exactly what USC is.
