Dawg Days
On Monday night the Washington Huskies (3-0) won the World Vision Basketball Classic with an easy 93-63 win over Portland in the final.

While the Huskies are sitting at 3-0 it has to be said they played 3 pretty weak teams in the tournament.
Still though I’ve been able to find 5 things to like and 5 things to hate about the Huskies in the tournament.
Like
1. A win is a win
While the competition was not very good in the tournament the Huskies did win. Are 3-0 on the season and have built up some confidence for Coach Romar to motivate the team with.
2. The offense has looked good
One of the big question marks for the Huskies this season has been about their offense since they lost their top 2 scorers. However in the win in the World Vision Tourney the Huskies scored over 90 points in 2 of the 3 games. Pretty par for the course though isn’t it Dawgs fans?
3. The play of Guard C.J. Wilcox
With G Isaiah Thomas now in the NBA there were concerns about the backcourt scoring, but C.J. Wilcox played well in the 3 games and after the tourney is the leading scorer for UW averaging 19.3 ppg.
4. Good tune-up for the big boys
The next 2 games for the Huskies are not against great teams (Saint Louis and Houston Baptist), but UW can get some confidence from their World Vision performance. Trust me they’ll need it when they face the a solid Nevada team in the beginning of December and then in their next 2 games facing the ranked teams of Marquette and Duke on the road.
5. 3 home wins
The Huskies may have got their fans excited for the upcoming season with the 3 wins in their house. (Never a bad thing to have the crazy Dawgs student section frothing at the mouth for more wins)

Huskies 3-0 Start Love'Em Hate'Em
Hate
1. The competition was pretty weak
The Huskies did win the tournament they hosted, but Georgia State, Florida Atlantic, and Portland are not college hoops powerhouses.
2. Semifinal woes
In the semis of the Classic the Huskies looked less than impressive in their 77-71 win over Florida Atlantic. In that game the Huskies shot 38.1% from the field and luckily FAU struggled from the charity stripe only hitting on 13 of their 25 free throws.
3. Jernard Jarreau will redshirt
The UW Huskies have announced Jernard Jarreau is a 6’10″ freshman that the Huskies were high on would redshirt this season.
4. Poor free throw shooting
Despite the fact the Huskies had no problem getting to the stripe they did not shoot over 70% in any of the 3 games. While that may not hurt facing weak competition like they did in their first 3 games that may kill them facing legit competition later this season.
5. Too much confidence?
Its difficult to be critical of Washington after a performance like they had in the last game vs. Portland. 6 players score in double figures.
They had nine steals and forced 15 turnovers which led to 21 points.
I guess if I get really anal I’d point out UW shot just 50 percent (9 of 18) on free throws and were outrebounded 43-38.
