Washington has won three straight since being embarrassed at Oregon and is looking more and more like a tourney team whether they get the PAC 12’s automatic bid or not.
They are currently tied with California at the top of the standings but Cal has the edge due to head to head performance.
Oddly, both teams are finishing with three straight road games.
Washington won a key game over the weekend against Arizona with Terrence Ross leading the way.
He has been playing much better in the second half of the year and against Arizona he had 5 steals to go with his 25 points. Best of all was that he turned it over just once. In fact that entire team turned it over just 5 times.
If they can keep up that kind of ball security they can withstand the inevitable shooting slumps that this athletic aggressive team experiences. Frosh Tony Wroten broke out of a mini slump scoring 22 after scoring below his seasonal average for 5 straight games.

I used to think that former Cougars coach Tony Bennett made a bad decision when he left Pullman for Charlottesville.

Now that I see the directions of his current Virginia program and this one and I am not so sure. The Cougars are limping into this game against Washington without their best guard, Faisal Aden, and with a record that is barely above .500.
Their chances of extending their season beyond the next couple of weeks is slim.
But opponents have figured out that he is not the key to success for the Cougars, the rest of the team is.
All three of Motum’s top scoring games in conference play have been losses.
Some not even close. Even with Aden out of the lineup now for a few weeks no one else has taken advantage of the extra shot to nudge their scoring into double digits.
This normally solid program is very lean on talent right now.
