The Seattle Supersonics and Vancouver Grizzlies are a thing of the past. The Portland Trail Blazers are the one and only NBA franchise in the Pacific Northwest. They’re our basketball beacon!
Sure, they’ve had their ups and downs but the Blazers have a rich NBA history and a bright future.

The Trail Blazers Thru The Years
The Portland Trail Blazers have enjoyed some turbulent recent seasons, so it sometimes makes us forget how rich and successful this team’s history really is.
The Blazers captured the NBA Championship in 1977. From that moment through 1995, they sold out 814 straight home games, setting a mark in all professional sports that wasn’t broken until July 2011. The Blazers also reached the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992. They won Pacific Division titles in 1978, 1991, 1992 and 1999.
This franchise has a plethora of amazing names lining its history. Bill Walton won the NBA Finals MVP in 1977 and the league MVP in 1978. And who could forget the legendary Clyde “The Glyde” Drexler and Terry Porter? Overall, Portland has six Pro Basketball Hall-of-Famers: Walton, Drexler, Scottie Pippen, Lenny Wilkens, Drazen Petrovic and Arvydas Sabonis.
Sure, we endured the Jail Blazers era with wild-child players like Rasheed Wallace, Zach Randolph and Bonzi Wells. But the future looks promising again with LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy and hopefully a healthy Greg Oden leading the way. It’s a good time to be a Blazers fan again. So let’s be the best sixth man we can be and get on our feet!
