Damian Lillard had a big week on the national stage, proving once again that he’s not just the future of the Portland Trail Blazers, but one of the most promising up-and-comers in the entire NBA.

Damian Lillard‘s week began with a strong showing against the Washington Wizards. He scored 25 points to go along with eight assists, but unfortunately for Rip City, it wasn’t enough to stop a third-straight loss to the Eastern Conference foe.

Next on the agenda was the New York Knicks. This one would be displayed on ESPN, and while the Knicks are hardly recognized as contenders, the nationally televised win helped Portland return to the forefront of championship discussions.

Lillard didn’t have his best performance against New York, but he bounced back big time against the Indiana Pacers. That game was also televised on ESPN, and it gave the world a chance to get to know Lillard on East-Coast time.

Unfortunately, his performance was overshadowed by George Hill’s career night, and the Pacers walked away with an overtime win — Portland’s first overtime loss of the season.

On the night, Lillard scored 38 points on 15-of-26 shooting. He scored on four of his seven three-point attempts, and he recorded 11 assists along the way.

The week concluded Saturday on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and unfortunately, foul trouble kept Lillard from getting into a rhythm. He scored 14 points on 30-percent shooting, but the bigger story came from what happened off the court earlier in the week.

Off the court, Lillard had arguably the biggest week of anybody across the Association. He was named to five All-Star Weekend events, making him the first player in NBA history to compete in that many competitions.

If the league isn’t already familiar with Lillard, it’s about to be. This guy’s gonna have his finger prints all over New Orleans, and if all goes according to plan, he’ll be able to say the same thing about the NBA sooner rather than later.
