The Blazers’ offense was solid last night in the 119-106 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Jazz lost to the L.A. Clippers 105-96 on Saturday night in their last game.

Earlier this season in Utah the Jazz beat the Blazers 93-89.

The Jazz are 1 game out of the last playoff spot in the West with the Blazers 2.5 games back. One big thing the Blazers have going for them is that the Jazz have been a terrible road team this season going 8-19.

Not only will the Blazers need the frontcourt duo of LaMarcus Aldridge and J.J. Hickson to give the team some offense, but they also must play good D on Al Jefferson (19.6 ppg 9.4 rpg) and Paul Millsap (16.2 ppg 8.9 rpg).

The Jazz guards of Gordon Hayward and Devin Harris must knock down their open J’s so Portland does not pack the paint to contain the formidable Utah frontcourt.

In the win over the Timberwolves the Blazers shot 52.3% from the field, every starter scored in double figures, and they had 50 points in the paint. If they can repeat that performance they will win back-to-back games for the first time in over 2 months.

Guards Wesley Matthews and Raymond Felton have been playing well and they are key in this game even though the big match up is between the 2 teams’ frontcourt players.

Aldridge is averaging 23.6 ppg on 59.3% shooting over his last 3 games and he is averaging 23.4 ppg in his last 5 games against the Jazz.

Jazz vs. Blazers Handicapping Preview

This season the Jazz are 27-26 ATS with an O/U record of 25-26-2 and the Blazers are 25-27-1 ATS with an O/U record of 28-25.

In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up the Jazz are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall, and they have an Over record of 7-2 in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

The Blazers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than 40%, 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games following a S.U. win, and they have an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.

Pick: I think the Blazers will build on their game from last night and they will win tonight and cover the spread.
