Carl Landry Wants To Be A 2011 Portland Trailblazer

Trail Blazers 2011 NEWS – LaMarcus Aldridge Wants A New Teammate

Technically, even if players communicate with any owners or league officials during the NBA lockout, they can still talk about their teams – or wanting to join other teams.

Carl Landry Wants To Be A 2011 Portland Trailblazer

New Orleans Hornets free-agent-to-be Carl Landry recently did just that. He opened up about where he’d like to play should the lockout end and the Portland Trail Blazers were prominent on his list.

Landry, an effective role player, has averaged 12.1 points and 5.1 rebounds over his four-year NBA career.

His best season was 2009-10, when he averaged 18 points per contest after being traded from Houston to Sacramento mid-season.

It appears at least some of the Trail Blazers like Landry’s idea.

LaMarcus Aldridge was particularly enthused when he spoke about the possibility this week:

“That’s big of him to speak out and I’m glad he spoke out and said he wants to play with us,” Aldridge said. “He’s a good player and I definitely feel like he can help us immediately. Landry’s a really good player and good players know how to fit in. Wouldn’t be a problem at all.”

Maybe it wouldn’t be a problem in terms of team chemistry. But Aldridge is no accountant.

The bigger question is whether or not Portland could accommodate Landry’s salary demands.

The Blazers already have the fifth-highest payroll in the NBA.

It’s safe to assume that Landry would at least hope to double the $3 million per year he made on his last deal.
