Trail Blazers vs. Spurs Betting Odds & Handicapping Preview April 23

NBA Matchup Insight

The Spurs can wrap up the top seed in the Western Conference with a win tonight and it may not be that hard to do so at home facing a Portland TrailBlazers team that has lost 5 straight and is shorthanded.

*NBA ATS Matchup Report*

This season the Spurs are a NBA best 27-5 at home while the Blazers are only 8-23 on the road.

The Blazers beat the Spurs badly in their last match up, but for tonight’s game LaMarcus Aldridge is out and Nicolas Batum, Joel Przybilla, and Raymond Felton are all doubtful to play.

On top of being shorthanded the Spurs will be a well-rested team since in their last game, which was a blowout win over the Cavs, Tim Duncan and leading scorer Tony Parker were rested and did not play.

With all the guys out for the Blazers they will need to play great defense and get good scoring games from Wesley Matthews, J.J. Hickson, and Jamal Crawford to have any chance to win.

With Aldridge out and Przybilla a question mark for this game Hickson will be counted on to man the boards and especially play good D on Duncan.

The Blazers played decent defense in their recent 4-point loss to the Grizzlies and they will have to do so in this game facing a Spurs’ offense that has averaged nearly 119 ppg in their last 5 games.

The 5-game losing streak is the longest for the Blazers this season and they have not dropped 6 straight since the 2010 season.

Blazers vs. Spurs Handicapping Preview

This season the Blazers are 31-32-1 ATS with an O/U record of 34-30 and the Spurs are 40-20-3 ATS with an O/U record of 37-26.

The Blazers are 7-17 ATS in their last 24 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games, and they have an Over record of 6-2 in their last 8 road games.

The Spurs are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 home games, 13-2-1 ATS in their last 16 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, and they have an Over record of 6-2 in their last 8 home games.

Pick: The Spurs will not pass up the chance to wrap up the West tonight and I think they will blow out the Blazers and cover the spread.
