Trail Blazers vs. Lakers Betting Odds & Handicapping Preview Feb. 20

NBA Matchup Insight

The Lakers have dominated the Blazers at home winning 16 of their last 19 games against them in La La Land, but Portland has won 2 straight in the series and they are coming off a 20-point win against a solid Hawks’ team while the Lakers fell to the sub-.500 Suns.

*NBA ATS Matchup Report*

The Blazers got off to a great start this season winning 5 of their last 6 games, but they are only 12-14 since.

The Blazers have really struggled in L.A. for the last several seasons and LaMarcus Aldridge (22.5 ppg) only averaged 13 ppg in Tinsel town last season. On top of that a struggling Gerald Wallace (13.8 ppg) is averaging less than 10 points per game in 9 road games facing the Lakers.

Kobe Bryant had a good scoring game in the Lakers loss to the Suns, but he committed a season high 10 turnovers.

Besides playing good D on Kobe the Blazers have to man up on the frontcourt duo of Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, who were a combined 13/23 in the Lakers loss to the Suns.

They lead a Lakers’ team that ranks #1 in the league in rebounds per game. Aldridge and Marcus Camby have to man up on these guys and not let them dominate the glass.

Nicolas Batum (13.6 ppg) has been playing well and scored 22 points in the Blazers crushing of the Hawks. He will need to play well, especially if Aldridge and Wallace’s struggles against the Lakers continue.

Batum is averaging 22.8 ppg on 52.9% shooting since becoming a starter.

The Lakers were ice cold behind the 3-point arc in the loss to the Suns and if Kobe and company can knock down some 3’s they will tough to beat, as it will open up the lane for Gasol and Bynum.

Jason’s Free Trail Blazers vs. Lakers Handicapping Prediction

This season the Blazers are 17-14-1 ATS with an O/U record of 14-18 and the Lakers are 14-17 ATS with an O/U record of 13-17-1.

In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up the Blazers are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 road games, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, and they have an Under record of 14-6 in their last 20 road games.

The Lakers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and they have an Over record of 5-0-1 in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss.

Pick: The Blazers are 5 games under .500 on the road this season and I think the Lakers will bounce back at home tonight, as they will win and cover.
