Trail Blazers vs. Warriors Betting Odds & Handicapping Preview Feb. 15

NBA Matchup Insight

Are you kidding me? The Blazers were crushed last night by the lowly Washington Wizards and at home no less? Portland is now only 1-game over .500 and they will be facing a Warriors team that has won 3 straight and already beat them this season.

The big news in this game is that Portland All Star and leading scorer and 2nd leading rebounder LaMarcus Aldridge is Out with an ankle injury.

The Blazers are only 4-10 on the road this season and they have only beaten one team with a winning record away from the Rose Garden. While Golden State is under .500 they have been playing well as of late and in their 3 game winning streak they have scored over 100 points in each game.

The Blazers have lost 12 of their last 13 games against the Warriors in Oakland.

With Aldridge out other guys have to take up the scoring slack, especially Gerald Wallace, Wesley Mathews, and Nicolas Batum. Also, 6th man Jamal Crawford had a season low 3 points in the ugly loss to Washington.

The Warriors suck on defense ranking 28th in the league in opponents’ points allowed, but they rank 4th in the league in points per game. The Blazers lost to the Wizards last night because they forgot to play defense.

They allowed a Washington team that ranks 25th in the league in scoring to score 124 points, shoot 60% from the field, and over 50% from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Blazers must play solid perimeter D against the Golden State guard duo of Monta Ellis (22.5 ppg) and Stephan Curry (16.9 ppg). They especially cannot let them have open looks from deep.

David Lee (18.6 ppg 10.1 rpg) is having a great season the 2nd time around in Golden State and he had 28 points and 12 boards in the Warriors last game. He and Curry combined for 58 points in the earlier win over the Blazers and if that happens again Portland will head home with a loss.

Blazers vs. Warriors Handicapping Preview

This season the Blazers are 15-13-1 ATS with an O/U record of 14-15 and the Warriors are 12-13 ATS with an O/U record of 13-12.

In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up the Blazers are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 road games, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog, and they have an Over record of 6-0 in their last 6 games.

The Warriors are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record, and they have an Under record of 15-6 in their last 21 home games.

Pick: Man, picked the Blazers to win yesterday, but without Aldridge in the lineup and facing a hot Golden State team cannot go down that road again. Golden State will win this game and cover the spread and I would also take the Over as well.
