The Matchup

The Trail Blazers beat the Raptors last night sending Toronto to their 7th straight loss and tonight they head back to the U.S. to face another weak team in the Detroit Pistons, who have lost 4 straight and 9 of their last 10 games.

The Blazers struggled, yet again, shooting the rock in their last game only going 40.2% from the floor, but they played solid DEFENSE against the Raptors holding them to  only 36.6% shooting from the field and only 32 points in the first half.

Tonight Portland faces a Detroit team that only ranks 30th in the league in scoring and in their last 3 games they have failed to score over 85 points.

Not only that, but the Pistons committed 25 turnovers in their last game, which was the 2nd time in the last 3 games where they turned the ball over at least 20 times.

The Pistons will have to play good D tonight against LeMarcus Aldridge and Gerald Wallace to have any chance to win this home game.

One player that must play well for the shorthanded Pistons is C Greg Monroe (15.7 ppg 9.6 rpg), who scored 10 points and grabbed 13 boards in Detroit’s last game.

Detroit guards Rodney Stuckey, Will Bynum, and F Charlie Villanueva did not play in the Pistons’ last game and each is unlikely for tonight’s match up.

Monroe will need scoring help from Tayshaun Prince (11.9 ppg), who really struggled in Detroit’s last game, and Ben Gordon (14.3 ppg).

Detroit also ranks 30th in the league in rebounds and Aldridge and Marcus Camby will be a handful for Monroe and the Pistons and if they cannot keep them from dominating the glass this game could get ugly.

The last times these 2 teams met the Blazers won 105-100 behind 36 points from Aldridge.

Blazers vs Pistons Free Prediction

This season the Blazers are 8-6-1 ATS with an O/U record of 6-9 and the Pistons are 4-12 ATS with an O/U record of 6-10.

  • In some betting trends for this non-conference match up the Blazers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games.
  • The Blazers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest, and they have an Under record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.
  • The Pistons are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games overall, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games.
  • The Pistons have an Under record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Pick: The Blazers can head back home with a .500 record on this road trip with a win tonight and I think they will get it.

Detroit is missing some key players and they are struggling on both ends of the court.

I look for another low scoring game where the Blazers will win and cover the 6.5-point spread.
