Trail Blazers vs. Bulls betting odds & handicapping preview March 16th

NBA Matchup Insight

Not only are the Trailblazers a terrible home team this season, but they may have given up on the season and are looking to the future, as they fired head coach Nate McMillan, traded away Gerald Wallace (13.3 ppg) and leading rebounder Marcus Camby, and the finally said goodbye to Greg Oden waiving the former #1 pick.

In the trades the Blazers picked up G Jonny Flynn and the expiring contracts of Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and Hasheem Thabeet and a few draft picks.

Not only are the Blazers now a new team with new players, but also they have been blown out in their last 2 games and face a Bulls’ team with the best record in the league.

LaMarcus Aldridge has averaged 35.7 ppg in his last 3 games against the Bulls and he will likely have to have a monster game tonight for Portland to win a rare road games.

On top of all going on for the Blazers 2nd leading scorer Jamal Crawford (14.2 ppg) is questionable for tonight’s game and while he suited up in Portland’s last game he did not play. If he cannot go again Nicolas Batum and Wesley Mathews will really have to step up on offense.

However, the Blazers may have a hard time scoring facing a Bulls’ defense that ranks 2nd in the league.

Derrick Rose may not play tonight because of a strained groin, but even with he and Richard Hamilton out for the Bulls last game against Miami Chicago still won.

The Bulls are one of the deepest teams in the league and with Rose out 6 players scored in double figures in the win over the Heat. Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer did not have big games against Miami, but John Lucas III went for 24 points and if the Blazers struggle on D they will lose.

The loss of Camby may hurt tonight, as in the last 3 games the Bulls have out-rebounded their opponents by an average of 15 rpg.

Blazers vs. Bulls Handicapping Preview

This season the Blazers are 20-22-1 ATS with an O/U record of 22-21 and the Bulls are 27-18 ATS with an O/U record of 25-19-1.

In some betting trends for this non-conference match up the Blazers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall, 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

The Bulls are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5 and they have an Over record of 5-0 in their last 5 games.

Pick: Yeah, this one is an easy call, as the Bulls will easily win this game and cover and this game may get ugly.
