NBA Announces 2013-14 Portland Trailblazers complete season schedule

2013-14 Rip City Opponents

For die hard Portland Trail Blazers fans, the NBA season can’t get here soon enough. The draft was fun, free agency was entertaining and the Las Vegas Summer League gave us a sneak peak at what’s ahead, but for those who just can’t get enough hoops, the itch won’t be scratched until the season opener.

Luckily for fans in Rip City, they’re one step closer following the announcement of the entire official NBA schedule.

Here is the official Trailblazers press release.

Facts

The Trail Blazers open up their season on Oct. 30 at US Airways Center against the Phoenix Suns, but the team is slated to return to the Rose Garden on Nov. 2 against the San Antonio Spurs. The defending Western Conference champions are going to present a huge challenge to Portland early in the year, but the team clearly has home-court advantage on its side.

For the last 11 seasons, the Blazers have won their home opener. That’s an impressive mark to say the least, as evidenced by the fact that it’s the longest streak in the entire NBA.

San Antonio will look to end that streak come this fall, but the Rip City crowd will have different ideas.

The Blazers are scheduled to play 11 games on national television this season. That’s a far cry from the 29 the Los Angeles Lakers will play, but it does give the fans league wide a chance to see what Damian Lillard, LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum can really do.

Unfortunately, five of those nationally televised games are on NBA TV (which doesn’t really count, if we’re being honest), but of the remaining six, four are at the Rose Garden against perennial playoff opponents.

To close out the year, the Blazers have an extremely generous April compared to the 2012-13 campaign. Last season, the team’s final 16 games were against opponents who were in the playoff hunt, but this time around, the Blazers caught a bit of a break.

They have to endure 19 total back-to-backs throughout the season (two more than the year before), but there’s no excuse for a sloppy finish. If the Blazers are a fringe playoff team come April, a solid wrap up will not only be necessary, but completely probable against the likes of the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz.

The team will wrap up its season on April 16 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
