NBA Matchup Insight
The Trail Blazers have lost 3 straight and have fallen out of the top 8 in the Western Conference, but they have a great chance to get back in the W column facing a Hornets’ team that has major offensive issues and has the worst record in the West.

*NBA ATS Matchup Report*
The TrailBlazers are 2-6 in their last 8 home games and their defense is what has killed them lately. However, after facing some high scoring teams they will be facing a Hornets’ team tonight that ranks 29th in the league in scoring.
Not only are the Hornets struggling to score, but they have several guys banged up and questionable for tonight’s game, especially Carl Landry (11.5 ppg) and Emeka Okafor (9.9 ppg 7.9 rpg).
Portland had a solid offensive outing in the loss to Minnesota, but their D struggled allowing the T-Wolves to shoot almost 54% from the floor.
While he was 7/14 from the floor he did not take one free throw and in tonight’s game he has to be more aggressive and attack the rim getting some easy points from the charity stripe. Aldridge is only averaging 14.8 ppg in his last 6 games at home.
Jarrett Jack (14.8 ppg), Chris Kaman (12.2 ppg), and Trevor Ariza (11.9 ppg) will have to be THE guys tonight on offense for New Orleans and if Portland can keep these guys in check they should easily win the game.
While New Orleans has struggled on offense they do have a legit defense ranking 11th in opponents’ points allowed and they will have to win this game with their D.
While the panic button has not been pushed in Portland yet the Blazers need to start winning again, as they are now in 10th place in the Western Conference 2.5 games behind 8th place Denver.
Hornets vs. Blazers Handicapping Preview
This season the Hornets are 18-19 ATS with an O/U record of 17-19-1 and the Blazers are 18-18-1 ATS with an O/U record of 18-19.
In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up the Hornets are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games, 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall, and they have an Over record of 3-0-1 in their last 4 games.
The Blazers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.
Pick: The Blazers are struggling, but I think a weak New Orleans team is just what they need to get back on track.
However, while the Blazers will win they will not blow out the Hornets, who will cover the big 10.5-point spread.
