2012 NBA Basketball Betting: Portland Trailblazers Futures Odds

NBA Odds

The Blazers are off to a pretty good start this season and as of January 30th they are 12-8 and tied for 3rd place in the Northwest Division 4.5 games back of first place Oklahoma City.

Oddsmakers have Portland as long shots to win the NBA title (28/1), the Western Conference (12/1), and the Northwest Division (9/1).

The Blazers have been a great team this season at the Rose Garden, but away from home is a different story. On the road this season the Blazers are only 3-7 and they only have 1 win on the road against a winning team and that was beating the Thunder in the 2nd game of the season.

The Blazers are legit on both offense and defense ranking 9th in the league in scoring and 10th in opponents points allowed.

LaMarcus Aldridge is having another All Star caliber season and he leads the Blazers in scoring and is 2nd in rebounding. He is getting help from Wesley Matthews (13.6 ppg) and Gerald Wallace (13.5 ppg).

Portland does not have much size and that hurts when they play a team with a good center. The Blazers can greatly increase their chances to do some damage in the playoffs if Greg Oden can get back on the court and stay healthy for a change.

That is a tall order for the former #1 pick, who has played in only 82 games in 3 seasons.

The Blazers did pick up former 6th Man of the Year in Jamal Crawford and he has been up and down this season, but is still averaging a solid 13.1 ppg coming off the pine.

Portland took a big hit when Brandon Roy retired and unless Oden comes back and is a rock in the paint or the team picks up a good player before the tread deadline the Blazers do not have much of a chance.

They are a playoff caliber team, but can they win the West much less the NBA title?

Not likely. (But I hope they surprise me)

Oden is not the only injury worry, as leading rebounder Marcus Camby has had health issues as well.

He needs to be on the court for the Blazers to win. Also, Nicolas Batum (11.2 ppg) has shown flashes of being a great player and if he can be more consistent Portland will be a team to deal with.

While they are a long shot the Blazers are definitely a team nobody wants to face in the post-season. They have already beaten the Thunder, Lakers, Clippers and Grizzlies this season and they may have to face one, or more, of those teams in the playoffs.

The Blazers have talent, but what they also have are a lot of question marks on the roster.

You can see this since their futures odds are not good.

The Thunder have the best odds to win the Northwest Division, the Western Conference, and have the 2nd best odds to win the NBA title.

The Nuggets have better odds to win the division than the Blazers do, but they are still seen as long shots to win the West and the NBA title.
