Clippers vs. Trail Blazers Betting Odds & Handicapping Preview Feb. 16

NBA Matchup Insight

The Clippers have not beaten the Blazers in their house in almost 3 seasons, but they have a good chance to snap that streak since LaMarcus Aldridge is out for another game with an ankle injury.

The Blazers beat the Golden State Warriors last night on the road with Gerald Wallace and Nicolas Batum stepping up to combine for 41 points and 6th man Jamal Crawford going for 14.

Even with Aldridge out the Blazers dominated the Warriors on the boards (41-24) and they are lucky that Marcus Camby is back in the lineup.

The Blazers have already beaten the Clippers at the Rose Garden this season.

Obviously the Clip joint are all about the duo of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, but they are getting solid contributions from Caron Butler and Randy Foye.

It is interesting that the Blazers won last night, as even though they won the battle of the boards they allowed the Warriors to shoot 47.4% from the floor while they only shot 40.5% from the floor.

If that happens against a better Clippers’ team they will lose.

Griffin has played great in his last 3 games at Portland, but has not got much help. Paul and company have to help the All Star starter out on offense, as the Clippers cannot rely on their 18th ranked defense to win this game.

Griffin averaging 19.7 ppg and 15 rpg in 3 visits to the Rose Garden, but the Clip Joint has lost all 3 games.

Paul has been torching teams since he got over his injury and he will be a handful for the Blazers’ guards tonight.

If Portland can keep him out of the lane and make him settle for jumpers than Portland has a much better chance to win.

Clippers vs. Trail Blazers Free Prediction

This season the Blazers are 16-13-1 ATS with an O/U record of 14-16 and the Clippers are 16-11 ATS with an O/U record of 13-14.

In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up the Clippers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a road favorite, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall, and they have an Under record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

  • The Blazers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above 60%.
  • 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 home games, and they have an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 home games.

Pick: Yeah, the Blazers won last night and they are at home tonight, but facing Griffin and Paul without their leading man in Aldridge I think the Clippers will win and cover tonight.
