L.A. (4-3) vs Portland (4-1)

Are the Blazers (4-1) for real? Many are calling them the surprise team of the NBA and here are a few of those that are doing so in this ESPN article.

The Lakers (4-3) have started to play well after a rocky start and Andrew Bynum is putting up sick numbers and when the team finally buys into Mike Brown’s system I think they will be THE team to beat, once again, in the Western Conference.

The Blazers are coming off a HUGE win beating the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

The Blazers are 3-0 at home this season, but the Lakers have won 2 of their last 3 games at the Rose Garden.

Yeah, Kobe will get his points, but the Blazers, who do not have a lot of size, may really have to worry about Bynum, who is averaging 22.7 ppg and 17 rpg and in the Lakers last win he scored 21 points and pulled down 22 rebounds.

I mentioned Kobe will get his points, as he has averaged 33.5 ppg in his last 15 games at the Rose Garden.

The Blazers are getting it done on both ends of the court and on offense LaMarcus Aldridge (22.2 ppg), Wesley Matthews (15.4 ppg), and Gerald Wallace (14.4 ppg) are all playing great and new addition Jamal Crawford (14.2 ppg) has been a great pickup.

L.A. Lakers vs. Portland Trailblazers Preview & Gambling Odds

Portland’s offense will be facing a great Lakers’ defense that ranks 5th in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

Wallace (8 rpg) and Aldridge (7.4 rpg) have to help Marcus Camby (9.4 rpg) out on the boards and they cannot allow Bynum and Pau Gasol to dominate the glass.

The Blazers need a repeat performance from their Oklahoma City win when they held the Thunder to 43.4% shooting and only 25% 3-point shooting. If that happens and their offense continues to click they should be 4-0 on the season.

So far on the young season the Lakers are 4-3 ATS with an O/U record of 1-6 and the Blazers are 3-1-1 with an O/U record of 2-3.

Handicapping Trends

  • In some betting trends for this Western Conference match up the Lakers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games.
  • 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a road underdog, and they have an Under record of 12-5 in their last 17 road games.
  • The Blazers are 9-4-2 ATS in their last 15 games as a home favorite and they have an Over record of 5-2 in their last 7 home games.

Blazers vs Thunder Free Prediction

Pick: I am going to buck trends and records here, as I think Lakers are still the better team and with their recent play they will show that and beat the Blazers at the Rose Garden tonight and cover the 3.5-point spread.
