*NBA ATS Matchup Report*
The team had multiple chances to pack it in for the day, but they kept battling. In the end, the Lakers finished off a 103-96 victory over the Blazers.
Portland needs to use this game as a good chance to get back on the winning track against a short-handed Warriors team.
Golden State picked up a much-needed win last night at home against Sacramento.
The Warriors jumped out to a big lead and held on to win 111-108. Klay Thompson filled it up with 31 points on 10 for 20 shooting from the floor. Thompson is a rookie with tons of potential, and he is making the most of his playing time this year. David Lee is the team’s leading scorer and leading rebounder. Stephen Curry is out the lineup with an ankle injury right now.
Richard Jefferson was recently dealt to the Warriors, and he is trying to get used to Mark Jackson’s system.
It’s obvious from the game against the Lakers that the Blazers must work on rebounding. The Lakers trounced the Blazers 53-29 on the boards. The good news is the Warriors don’t have anyone even close to the level of Andrew Bynum or Pau Gasol, so Portland should be able to hold up on the glass in this one.
In the five games since Coach Canales took over, Wesley Matthews has had a major resurgence.
Matthews is averaging just 12.5 points per game on the season, but he has scored at least 16 in each of the team’s last five games. He is shooting almost 50% from three-point range during that time. J.J. Hickson is the newest addition to the Blazers, and he gave fans a lot to look forward to with his 14 points in 22 minutes Friday night in Los Angeles.
Don’t be surprised if we see more of Hickson in the near future.
Warriors vs. Blazers Handicapping Preview
The Warriors are now 24-22 ATS this season. Portland is 23-24-1 ATS this year. The over is 23-23 in the Warriors 46 games this year. It is also an even 24-24 in the Blazers 48 games this year.
Golden State is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these teams. The under is 20-9-1 in the last 30 meetings.
Pick: The numbers say the ‘under’ is a good play, and I have to agree. Look for this one to be slightly lower scoring than most expect.
