Mavericks vs. Trail Blazers betting odds & handicapping preview April 13

NBA Matchup Insight

The Mavs have won 2 straight and even though they are in Portland tonight there is a good chance it will be 3 straight since the Portland TrailBlazers will be without All Star LaMarcus Aldridge, who is now out for the season with a hip injury.

*NBA ATS Matchup Report*

This season the Blazers are 20-11 at home and the Mavs are only 12-16 on the road.

The Mavs are in the 6th spot in the Western Conference with a 1/2 game lead over the Rockets and Nuggets, a 2 game lead over the Jazz, and a 2.5 game lead over the Suns, so they need to end the season well to make the post-season.

On the other side of the coin the Blazers are 4.5 games out of the last playoff spot and without their best player it looks like they will be watching the post-season from home.

Jamal Crawford and J.J. Hickson combined for 57 points in the Blazers most recent win and they along with guards Wesley Matthews and Raymond Felton will have to take up the scoring slack with leading scorer Aldridge out for the season.

The Blazers will be facing a solid Mavs’ defense that ranks 7th in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

Aldridge will also missed on the glass and Hickson and Nicolas Batum have a tall task on the boards. With Marcus Camby now in Houston and Aldridge out no Portland player is averaging over 6 rpg.

Wesley Matthews

Wesley Matthews and Raymond Felton will have to take up the scoring slack with LaMarcus Aldridge out.

Dirk Nowitzki creates a match up problem for anyone and that is the case tonight.

For the Blazers to have any chance to win tonight they will need to play well on the boards and play good perimeter defense against Dirk, Jason Terry, and Vince Carter.

Mavs vs. Blazers Handicapping Preview

This season the Mavs are 29-29 ATS with an O/U record of 28-30 and the Blazers are 28-30-1 ATS with an O/U record of 32-27.

The Mavs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win, 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, and they have an Over record of 6-2 in their last 8 road games.

The Blazers are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games following a S.U. win, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game, and they have an Over record of 5-2 in their last 7 games.

Pick: No Aldridge, no win, as the Mavs should have no problems winning this game and covering the spread.

well jason kidd is out and he really is the only pg on that team that creates thing. I mean West is out right? so that leaves scoring guard roddy the only true PG left. As for the Blazers… PLAY KURT THOMAS! And I havent seen those rip city jersey’s in awhile, maybe time to break those out…
