Matchup: Chivas vs Timbers Insight
This one is a tale of two very different teams. One is playing some pretty good football as of late, and the other just flat out is not.
The Portland Timbers have lost eight matches in their last 10, including one against the Goats.
There are a couple of 2-1 victories in that span, but six points in 10 matches is just not good not matter what the score
Matchup: Chivas USA at Portland Timbers

Venue: JELD-WEN Field, Portland, Oregon

Spread: Timbers -185, Chivas +145
Over/Under: 2.5 (O -105 / U -125)
On the other side, you have a pretty in form Chivas’ side that has just three losses in their last 14 matches overall.
The Timbers continue to struggle to score. And with the exception of one outburst against the LA Galaxy in which they lost 5-3. Portland has been shut out six times in 10 matches.
They did look better against an out of form Aston Villa side earlier this week, getting on the score sheet twice, before losing on penalties.
The reality. The Timbers have only one match all month where they have not lost.
And this is their last chance to change that, so they will need to come out with some fire to try to climb out of last place.
Chivas meanwhile, have had a little better time of it as of late. Especially in the goals department.
The Goats have been kept out of the net just three times in their last 14, while posting a 6-5-3 record.
They now find themselves in 6th place in the Western Conference.
With the season starting to wind down at a rather quick rate, Chivas need to make the most of these opportunities and take some points in winnable road matches if they want to reserve a spot in the playoffs.
Players to Watch:
Portland – Kris Boyd 20 Appearances 7 Goals
The fiery Scot is the leading scorer for the Timbers. He has seemingly been the only player able to get off the mark, but hasn’t scored in his last two appearances.
He did however, put up a brace against the Galaxy earlier this month.
Chivas – Juan Pablo Angel 11 Appearances 3 Goals
Angel hasn’t been the same man as he used to be, but he can still get the ball in the back of the net when given the chance.
With Juan Agudelo not playing in the last month, he is the most likely to get on the score sheet in this match.
While getting two against a Premier League was impressive. I am not inclined to jump on the bandwagon just yet.
