Timbers start to the season: bittersweet

NWSB Insider and Portland Timbers’ blogger Jeff Budke gives you his love ‘em and hate ‘em to the start of Portland’s 2013 MLS season. Saturday had a completely different feel to it. The consistency of the Timbers Army was the extent of the consistency inside Jeld-Wen Field as Portland failed to string together consistent attacks (despite majority possession) and lost to Montreal Impact 2-1.

Union vs. Timbers

Portland Timbers releasing 2013 kits tonight

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson brings you a first analysis of the 2013 Portland Timbers kits that will be officially revealed tonight. Subtle changes make big differences on these two uniforms, making them appear more intimidating and sleek at the same time. While the traditional green jersey is quite the sight to behold, the alternate red uniforms are by far the victors in this uniform war.

Five expectations for the 2013 Portland Timbers

NWSB Insider Jeff Budke gives you 5 expectations for the 2013 Portland Timbers’ MLS season. With quality play to build on from this long season, how will Merritt Paulson and the gang turn disappointment into success in the Rose City? A prediction. Last year’s first round pick only played in a few games, but the physicality Andrew Jean-Baptiste brought could really develop with a full offseason.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Portland Timbers MLS love ‘em & hate ‘em

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson gives you his love ‘em and hate ‘em from Portland’s draw against the San Jose Earthquakes. Portland was horrendous at times during the 2012 MLS Season. A terrible June, July, and August paved the way for the Timbers becoming the laughing stock of the MLS. Nice 67th minute goal by Bright Dike, love that name. Hope 2013 brings better results. Cheers Timbers Army!

Portland Timbers vs. Vancouver Whitecaps MLS love ‘em & hate ‘em

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Portland’s 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. And, after all things were said and done, the Timbers walked away with the Cascaida Cup trophy as they vanquished the Whitecaps by a score of 1-0.

Portland can still claim Cascadia Cup glory

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about the Portland Timbers and the Cascadia Cup. The Timbers must win this game, they cannot settle for a draw. Though a draw would give them nine points in the cup chase to tie the Sounders, the drubbing they received in Seattle was enough to give the Sounders an advantage in goal differential over the Timbers.

Portland Timbers: What went wrong in Seattle?

NWSB Editor and Writer Chris Anderson talks about the Timbers’ loss to the Sounders on Sunday night. Greeted by over 66,000 ravenous fans at CenturyLink Field, the Timbers failed to convert any of their opportunities as they lost to Seattle by a score of 3-0.

Locked, but loaded: The Timbers Army visits hostile territory

NWSB Insider and Portland Timbers blogger Jeff Budke weighs in on what he enjoyed about Sunday’s matchup between the Timbers and the Seattle Sounders. He reflects on the roudiness of the crowd, the singing of the National Anthem and the Timbers Army invasion of Century Link Field. This was not a game for victories from the Portland Timbers, so smaller victories have to be mentioned.
