NWSB Insider and Washington Huskies blogger KShell weighs in with some new faces to introduce you to who will be playing in Seattle in 2012. Steve Sarkisian has some new toys. Brandon Beaver, Shaq Thompson, James Sample, Taniela Tupou, and Jaydon Mickens will all be given a chance to show what they have on the field. Who will be backing up Keith Price this upcoming season? We touch on these guys too.
NWSB Insider Brandon Choate brings us big news out of the University of Washington. Washington just announced it’s 2012 Hall of Fame class and it included two Husky football legends in Lawyer Milloy and Dave Hoffmann. Both Milloy and Hoffmann had stellar careers at Washington, setting records and helping the team to roll to national titles and Rose Bowls.
NWSB Insider and Northwest sports blogger Steve Lee tells us five teams that should draft Terrence Jones in this years upcomming draft. Of course number 1 on this list it the Portland Trail Blazers, as Jones is a native Oregonian, but other than Portland, Steve tells us that the Phoenix Suns would be a nice place for him to land as well. Complementing Marcin Gortat, Markieef Moris, and Jared Dudely in a big lineup. In Portland, Jones could run the wing with Nic Batum moving to shooting guard.
NWSB Insider and UW hoops writer Clinton Bell tells us that the Washington Huskies are going to have a very hard time repeating as conference champs this season. With the departures of Tony Wroten and Terrence Ross, this leaves the leadership roles up to Abdul Gaddy and C.J. Wilcox. There are not a lot of imcoming players as of yet either, only two to be exact: Mark Mclaughlin and Jernard Jerreau.
NWSB Insider Dave B brings us another Northwest Athlete Profile of a hometown hero in Seattle. Marques Tuiasosopo was a leader and a champion as a Washington Huskies quarterback before entering the NFL with the Oakland Raiders. While his NFL career didn’t pan out, Tui immediately went to work to give back with his alma mater Washington. Soon after, he landed at UCLA as a specialty coach.
NWSB Insider Dave B brings us another Northwest Athlete Profile. This one is a legend from the University of Washington hailing from Spokane. His name? Steve Emtman. Although labeled a bust after he entered the pro ranks with Indianapolis, Emtman will always be a hometown legend for the years he spent anchoring the Washington Huskies defensive line.
NWSB Insider — keeps us up to date with how the Pac-12 teams in the Pacific Northwest will be starting their seasons off. The Washington Huskies will have the toughest test against LSU, but Oregon needs to be wary of Arkansas St. who could surprise them after NFL draft casualties. Washington St. plays good teams with UNLV and BYU. Keith Price, De’Anthony Thomas, Jeff Tuel, Sean Mannion your front and center.
NWSB Insider and Seattle U Redhawks blogger Blair Thomas tells us what it is that goes into being able to answer the question. Why am I a die hard fan of the Seattle U Basketball team?! Seattle University has tradition that other mid-majors in this region don’t have, plus Coach Cameron Dollar and his flock will begin WAC play in November.
NWSB Insider Steve also a Washington State Cougars blogger tells us this week there are certain things outside of the realm of football that Mike Leach stresses on his players that Chip Kelly falls by the wayside. Insider fully expects Chip Kelly to move on to the NFL because in his mind he’s already there. Washington State will be in a much better situation than Oregon because of it.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens tells us on Monday the Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with free agent cornerback and former draft pick of the Seahawks Marcus Trufant on a 1 year contract. John Schneider today on KJR Radio with Dave Softy Mahler said he hopes Trufant will come in and compete at the Nickel spot.
Seahawks insider Brett Bivens brings us his explanation of how Stanford offensive lineman David DeCastro could be the perfect pick for the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft. With the 12th pick in the draft, the Seahawks can grab one of the best players from any position on the field out of college. Picking David DeCastro would not only solidify the Seahawks offensive line, but it would also ensure that Michael Robinson has plenty of room.
NWSB insider Clinton Bell gives us an update on the Washington Huskies football spring practices. With 14 starters returning, including stud QB Keith Price and TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, the team’s offense shouldn’t skip a beat. With practices close this Spring, though, it is hard to gauge how the team is looking – especially with 3 new defensive coaches and a new defense being installed.
