The playoff-bound Vancouver Canucks are still fighting for first in the Western Conference, the Presidents’ Trophy and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs. The loss cost the Canucks a chance to pass the New York Rangers for the lead in the overall standings. Mike Cammalleri and Curtis Glencross scored. Cory Schneider lost, Miikka Kiprusoff got the win.

Roberto Luongo made a handful of saves inside of 10 seconds to go in the third to give him 38 on the night and a tight 1-0 win over the Kings at Rogers Arena. Manny Malhotra scored a rare fourth-line goal 3:05 into the game, and Luongo made it stand up.

The Vancouver Canucks clinched their fourth consecutive Northwest Division title in the comfort of their hotel rooms Saturday night. Chris Higgins scored his second goal of the game 1:40 into OT, pulling the Canucks within two points of St. Louis and the New York Rangers (101-99) in the race for the Presidents’ Trophy.

It was a 25 save night from Cory Schneider — including one on a second-period penalty shot by Mike Ribeiro.
