That big news slightly overshadowed the news that the Mariners have traded Shawn Kelley to the Yankees for prospect Abraham Almonte.

Texas Rangers vs. Mariners: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em game 3

Jason Vargas

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the third game of the series versus the Texas Rangers. The Headline: the Mariners drop this one by a hair, and though the failed to complete the sweep they still win the series. The Mariners do everything to put themselves in a position to win, but can’t follow through. The biggest complaint, it all feels too normal at this point.

Franklin Gutierrez has finally made his comeback to the team and of course continues to live up to his name of “death to flying things”. The Mariners have added 9 men to their roster so far this September. Those players are…Carlos Peguero, Carlos Triunfel, Casper Wells, Erasmo Ramierez, Hector Noesi, Luis Jimenez, Mike Carp, Shawn Kelley and Alex Liddi.

San Diego Padres vs. Mariners: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 1

Michael Saunders

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. The M’s looked lost all night then the 9th inning happened. Michael Saunders homered to kick things off. Four batters and one wild pitch later and the Mariners were just 1 run down with a man on and Jesus Montero at the plate. Then a hit, or a bunt or…UGH.

Mariners vs. LA Angels: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 3

Michael Saunders

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the third M’s game of the series versus the L.A. Angels. Starter Hector Noesi had a rough night, giving up 6 earned runs on 5 walks and 4 hits. To name Seattle 2012 MVP today, the name would be Kyle Seager. The 24-year old is enjoying a fantastic breakout season, leading the Mariner’s in RBI with 32. Thank goodness Ichiro Suzuki is back?!

Munenori Kawasaki

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the series versus the L.A. Angels. After three quality starts in a row, Jason Vargas finally cracked. The Mariners starter was lackluster, needing 106 pitches to get through 5.2 innings. Brandon League has been putting his horrible month behind him. The Mariners made a great pick in the draft last night, taking catcher Mike Zunino.

Weekly Seattle Mariners recap: Series pitching vs. Texas, L.A. Angels

Hector Noesi, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Insider Steve gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. The bullpen made strides this week. I understand how that reads considering Brandon League had another meltdown. Felix Hernandez, who was lights out in the week’s opener was rattled in his second start of the week. Kevin Millwood continues to impress.

Which 5 Mariners are likely to be wearing a different uniform this year

Blake Beavan

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Danny Ferguson reports on the Mariners possible 2012 trade rumors and player desitinations. Brendan Ryan, Blake Beavan, Kevin Milwood, Jason Vargas are the four most possible players to end up on different teams in 2012. Looking at the M’s roster, unlike in years past there isn’t a lot there to entice a team to give up a high profile prospect for.

LA Angels vs. Mariners: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 4

Chone Figgins

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the fourth M’s game of the series versus the L.A. Angels of Anaheim. It’s just bad. Kyle Seager is mired in a bit of a slump. Seattle’s bullpen has been bad enough throughout the season so its fitting that with the score at 3-2 in the 9th Shawn Kelley goes ahead and gives LA that insurance run. Justin Smoak closed out today’s series going 2-4.

Mariners vs. Colorado Rockies: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 3

Mariners vs. Rockies Game 3 Recap

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the third M’s game of the series versus the Colorado Rockies. Jesus Montero, Justin Smoak and Mike Carp all hit homeruns on Sunday. Nice three game set. Perhaps more exciting than the sweep is that the Mariners finally head home to Seattle. Monday kicks off a 7-game home stand against the Angels and Rangers.

Seattle Mariners rant time! You know what really ticks me off?

If Ken Griffey Jr. was expendable, so are 99% of these guys

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us what really ticks him off about the Seattle Mariners. The only good thing management has done is not sold the team to some jerk in Oklahoma City. Ichiro Suzuki, and Felix Hernandez may need to be used as trade bait at the deadline. And it’s time to cut our losses with Chone Figgins and Brendan Ryan.
