Our man Josh Dougherty has his finger firmly on the pulse of the Seattle Sounders in the 2012 season of MLS soccer. But this time, Josh is paying his respects to the other player who wore number 24 in Seattle who stole our hearts, Roger Levesque. Among Josh’s top moments of Roger’s career were the ’09 Open Cup winner, the 48 seconds goal and celebration, and just an overall rememberence of what kind of man Roger was both on and off the field.

After going down quickly, the Sounders managed a way to creep back into the game with not one, but two goals from Freddy Montero. We couldn’t hold the draw though, going back down by two before halftime.

Old friend Sebastien Le Toux nets one for the Red Bulls, and a hand ball goes unnoticed by the ref.

Red Bulls matchup. A difficult game to call. Steve Zakuani returned to the pitch during the Sounders 2-1 victory over Colorado last week, and on Thursday night 9-year Sounder Roger Levesque announced his retirement.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Sounders writer Clinton Bell brings us his Love Em & Hate Em recap from Saturday nights match up with the Colorado Rapids. Finally we are winners again in MLS Play! The return of Steve Zakuani against Brian Mullan has finally happened, and Alvaro Fernandez scored his first goal of the year. Sigi Schmid has to be happy with this result. Maybe the new lineup sans Fredy Montero is a sign of things to come.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Sounders writer Clinton Bell brings us his Love Em & Hate Em recap from Wednesday nights match up with Real Salt Lake. Not a win, but we did earn a point in the 0-0 draw. This game got chippy early, and stayed that way for the entire match. A total of five yellow cards were handed out. Not a whole lot of great scoring chances, but Cordell Cato and Zach Scott both had excellent chances. The defense, led by Jhon Kennedy Hurtado kept the Sounders in this game and forced the draw.

Not a win, but we did earn a point in the 2-2 draw. This game got chippy early, and there was a stretch of about thirty minutes where the whistle was blown evey minute, but there were a ton of scoring chances. Two beautiful goals off the head of Eddie Johnson put the Sounders ahead.

The Sounders will be motivated after receiving just short of an ultimatum form their General Manager. Cordell Cato is hungry to perform. He should see playing time this weekend.

Portland Timbers mid season player and team report

Sounders vs. Timbers

NWSB Editor and Portland Timbers writer Chris Anderson brings us his report card for the Portland Timbers during the first half of the MLS season. Despite winning their first game of the season over the Philadelphia Union 3-1, the Timbers would only scratch out two more victories in between their opener and June 17, leaving them in last place and wondering where so much promise for a young and talented team went. MVP for Portland so far is Scotsman Kris Boyd.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Sounders writer Clinton Bell brings us his report card for the Seattle Sonders FC during the first half of the MLS season. While the injuries have been a problem, Seattle is lucky to be sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference. Top goal goes to Patrick Ianni for his mid air volley against Sporting KC. Best player so far is Osvaldo Alonso, without him, the Sounders would be in a world of hurt.
