NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the week had to be the MLB debut made by Taijuan Walker on Friday night against the Houston Astros. Tai shut down the Stros for 5 innings, not giving up an earned run in the process. The M’s got out of there with a 7-1 victory in part of POTW runner up performance by Dustin Ackley. It’s nice to feel good about this team every once in a while isn’t it?
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners’ blogger Jeff Budke breaks down what happened against the Houston Astros today in MLB action. Jeff says this is what a team should look like coming out of an All Star Break! 26 runs for the Mariners offense makes the second half look brighter. With Brad Miller and Nick Franklin shouldering (carrying) the top of the lineup and playing excellent defense, the offense has had more opportunities to score runs.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson previews the next five games for the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners have continued to slip and are now 27-37 on the year. It’s not hard to see that hopes at an AL West Title or Wild Card position are slipping away day-by-day, but Seattle may be playing for a .500 record in the coming weeks. And while some may see a .500 as a so-so record come the end of the season, that is exactly what the Mariners need to shoot for.
