Mariners second half uncertainty revolves around the deadline

Jack Z Mariners

NWSB Mariners Blogger and our resident Insider the man we call INSIDER Steve is back today with pre 2013 MLB trade deadline post. Steve says Jack Zduriencik is very much on the hot seat, and its getting hotter. Seasons cannot continue to be wasted on the hopes and dreams of youth. Success in major professional sports is dictated by how many rings you have, and the last time Steve checked the Mariners have zero. Jack cannot be complacent.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. The 2 stars pitched like expected while the bullpen held the fate of the team in their hands way too many times this week. Steady Tom Wilhelmsen has become anything but steady while Carter Capps, his possible replacement has been doing his job quite effectively.

The 2 best starters were the shakiest with Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma having some rough outings. The bullpen surrendered a few losses and blown saves, but managed to help out in a couple situations.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. By far the biggest surprise is Yoervis Medina. Medina pitched 3.1 innings this week in 3 appearances. He only gave up a single hit and struck out 3 in the process. There isn’t much we can say about Felix Hernandez that hasn’t been said yet.

Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma are pacing the other startes while Tom Wilhelmsen has been perfect in closingh situations. Kameron Loe and Brandon Maurer on the other hand would like to start this season over already. Loe is a Cub, now we get Aaron Harang, we’ll see how he does.

Hisashi Iwakuma, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. The Mariners went 3-2 this week and the pitchers only allowed 1 run in 3 of those games. Kevin Millwood showed signs of life while Hisashi Iwakuma keeps us scratching our head as to why he didn’t make the initial rotation. Felix Hernandez had a rough week, but won the AL Pitcher of the month.

Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. The Mariners pitching staff has really straightened up since the All Star break. The team went 7-3 this week with the King going to 3-0 since the break. If the pitching continues, all that is stopping this team from competing is consistent hitting. Kevin Millwood, Blake Beavan, and Felix Hernandez got wins this week.

Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. Felix Hernandez was in Cy Young form this week and Kevin Millwood and Erasmo Ramirez were on track for similar starts until injuries derailed them. Jason Vargas threw well while Hector Noesi had another forgettable performance.

Erasmo Ramirez, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. Felix Hernandez, Erasmo Ramirez, and Hector Noesi all put up great performances, but only Felix got the win. This goes hand in hand with the way things have been going this season for the starting rotation. Jason Vargas continued his slide with a poor performance.

Steve Delabar

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Insider Steve gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. Shortly after his last start, it was reported that Felix Hernandez suffered a back injury. According to Shannon Drayer Hernandez was in noticeable pain. Hector Noesi, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Insider Steve gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. The bullpen made strides this week. I understand how that reads considering Brandon League had another meltdown. Felix Hernandez, who was lights out in the week’s opener was rattled in his second start of the week. Kevin Millwood continues to impress.
