My oh My! Top play of the week for the Seattle Mariners

Nick Franklin

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the ninth week of the year had to be the two homerun game by Nick Franklin against the San Diego Padres. The M’s rallied around the King to pick up the get away day matinee at Petco Park. The bats were out in full force as the Mariners hit five homers on the day, but the real story here was rookie Nick Franklin going deep for the 1st and 2nd time in his young career.

raul ibanez vs. Yankees

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the seventh week of the year had to be the two homerun game by Raul Ibanez against the Yankees. The M’s jumped out of the gate hot Wednesday night, probably a little peeved about the loss the night before. A 7 run first inning capped by a Ibanez grand slam started them off on the right foot. The M’s went on to win 12-2, but not before Raul connected for a 2-run shot in the 5th as well.

What should the Mariners do about the 9 spot?

Nick Franklin

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell brings us a piece that questions managements decision to keep the uber talented Nick Franklin down at AAA Tacoma while the starters are struggling. It’s not a secret that Brendan Ryan never brought his bat from St. Louis with him. And it seems that Robert Andino’s must have gotten lost in transport from Baltimore as well. But there is a kid that has been on the list of top prospects for a long time playing some good ball down in Tacoma. Nick Franklin.

Montero HR vs. Pittsburgh

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the sixth week of the year had to be the go-ahead homerun by Jesus Montero. The Mariners were battling hard in Pittsburgh and with Felix on the mound it was important to get that winning run across the plate. Jesus Montero got a first pitch fastball he liked, and hit it to the deepest part of the field. Homerun, Mariners win, Dave Sims gets all giggly, win-win-win situation for everyone.

Dustin Ackley

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the fifth week of the year had to be the all around play of the Mariners for the week. The M’s took 4 out of 6 games, en route to a series win against both the Orioles and Blue Jays. Welcome back Michael Saunders, great pitching, a triple by Jesus Montero, a slam by Dustin Ackley, and Jason Bay is hitting the ball well. A great week by our Mariners all around.

Morse is back and should be ready to help Seattle forward their momentum.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the fourth week of the year had to be the go-ahead homer by Michael Morse. Morse followed fellow outfielder Jason Bay for the second home run on the day for the Mariners. This one was the deciding factor in the much anticipated return of former Mariners Jason Vargas. The Marines won the game, and the series, their first series win of the year.

Felix gets win number 100 in Houston on Monday night

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the third week of the year had to be Felix Hernandez finally getting his 100th career win against the Houston Astros. What a difference. The Mariners scored as many runs in three innings tonight as they did in three games up in Arlington. Felix finally gets to the century mark, and the M’s unleashed the bats for 7 runs.

Felix Hernandez

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the second week of the year had to be Felix Hernandez striking out David Murphy for the 1,500th strikeout of his career. We are now on to milestone watch number two for Felix, his 100th win. The strikeout plateau is nice, but this game boils down to wins, and Felix’s next will be number 100. But until then, let us bask in the glory of Felix for a moment, and hope this season bring a lot more wins and strikeouts for the man.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the first week of the year had to be the two homerun performance of Mariners OF, Michael Morse. Morse went deep in the 3rd, and 9th innings, en route to a 4 RBI game, and his first two homeruns on the year. A free agent signing that already seems to be paying off for Jack Z and the M’s

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the twenty-sixth week of the year had to be the dance competition with the Northwest mascots. Captained by the Mariners Moose, the teams consisted of mascots from each of the Seattle teams, as well as the Tacoma Rainiers, and the Everett Silvertips. The moves laid down were definitely something to see, these guys (or girls) can really dance!

Kyle Seager's defense might be even more impressive than his hitting.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the twenty-fifth week of the year had to be the diving stop by Kyle Seager to not only save a run, but throw out Michael Young as well. On a 0-1 pitch, Jason Vargas threw on off speed pitch to Young who drilled it into the ground for a one hopper to short. Seager dives for the ball, looks back Ian Kinsler at third, and throws a strike to first to retire Young, maintaining the 0-0 tie.

The jury has spoken, and the verdict is King Felix for Cy Young. (photo grantland.com)

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the twenty-fourth week of the year had to be the Kings Court’s video to push the vote for a Felix Hernandez Cy Young Award. The best fans in all of baseball showcase both their knowledge, and their voice in the quest for Cy Young number two for King Felix Hernandez. The most dominant pitcher in the American League, Felix deserves this in my opinion.
