Jon didn’t find much “good” left to report on in this game, so he highlighted that Ichiro Suzuki once again had a solid night at the plate. Hopefully the 38-year old Ichiro is proving he still has something left in the tank.

Newsworthy Optioned down to AAA Tacoma Rainiers were Blake Beavan and Alex Liddi. Also Seattle was swept by the San Diego Padres, but bounced back.

Erasmo Ramirez didn’t even make it through the fifth, four innings on 78 pitches. However the Mariner bullpen has been incredibly solid through June. Tom Wilhelmsen, Charlie Furbush were fantastic. Ichiro (hit 2500) and Casper Wells were hero’s.

Outside of Felix Hernandez, names like Jesus Montero, Dustin Ackley and Franklin Gutierrez are becoming big amongst fans. All it takes is one look at a stats page to see why Ichiro should be traded. .255/.282/.363, 4 home runs and 9 stolen bases. Not what we’ve come to expect of our rightfielder.

With the past year and a half basically spent on the DL, it is important for Gutierrez to get back to his normal ways, or face the threat of being shipped out come deadline time. It won’t be easy either, with the hot bats of Michael Saunders, and Casper Wells, the competition is real, and fierce.

Starter Hector Noesi had a rough night, giving up 6 earned runs on 5 walks and 4 hits. To name Seattle 2012 MVP today, the name would be Kyle Seager. The 24-year old is enjoying a fantastic breakout season, leading the Mariner’s in RBI with 32. Thank goodness Ichiro Suzuki is back?!

The Mariners starter was lackluster, needing 106 pitches to get through 5.2 innings. Brandon League has been putting his horrible month behind him. The Mariners made a great pick in the draft last night, taking catcher Mike Zunino.
