Mariners vs. San Diego Padres: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 1

Franklin Gutierrez

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. Jon didn’t find much “good” left to report on in this game, so he highlighted that Ichiro Suzuki once again had a solid night at the plate. Hopefully the 38-year old Ichiro is proving he still has something left in the tank.

Kyle Seager, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell weighs in with another M’s Week That Was. Intended to be a fun column, with lots of laughs and other good stuff. Normally it will be a top 10 list, a la David Letterman style. The return of Franklin Gutierrez was the highlight of the week. Newsworthy Optioned down to AAA Tacoma Rainiers were Blake Beavan and Alex Liddi. Also Seattle was swept by the San Diego Padres, but bounced back.

Mariners vs. Arizona Diamondbacks: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 2

Ichiro

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the second M’s game of the interleague series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Erasmo Ramirez didn’t even make it through the fifth, four innings on 78 pitches. However the Mariner bullpen has been incredibly solid through June. Tom Wilhelmsen, Charlie Furbush were fantastic. Ichiro (hit 2500) and Casper Wells were hero’s.

Memo to the Mariners: Five reasons Ichiro needs to go!

Ichiro Suzuki

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jon Irwin tells us Ichiro Suzuki is no longer a marquee name in Safeco. Outside of Felix Hernandez, names like Jesus Montero, Dustin Ackley and Franklin Gutierrez are becoming big amongst fans. All it takes is one look at a stats page to see why Ichiro should be traded. .255/.282/.363, 4 home runs and 9 stolen bases. Not what we’ve come to expect of our rightfielder.

San Francisco Giants vs. Mariners: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 2

Brendan Ryan

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the second M’s game of the interleague series versus the San Francisco Giants. These two must get hot. Kyle Seager and Justin Smoak blew up to begin June. They were both hitting really well, especially during the road trip to kick off the month. Great game by Brendan Ryan and Jesus Montero on Saturday.

San Diego Padres vs. Mariners: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 3

Munenori Kawasaki

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the third M’s game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. Swept by the Padres the headlines will read. Not good. What is this? Erasmo Ramirez struggled out of the ‘pen, and now the Seattle brass decide he should be starting. Not good. For a split second Munenori Kawasaki was possessed by the spirit of Shaq. Nice catch.

A sight for sore eyes in center field for the Seattle Mariners

Franklin Gutierrez, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell weighs in with Thursday’s top Mariners story; the return of Franklin Gutierrez. With the past year and a half basically spent on the DL, it is important for Gutierrez to get back to his normal ways, or face the threat of being shipped out come deadline time. It won’t be easy either, with the hot bats of Michael Saunders, and Casper Wells, the competition is real, and fierce.

San Diego Padres vs. Mariners: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 1

Michael Saunders

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. The M’s looked lost all night then the 9th inning happened. Michael Saunders homered to kick things off. Four batters and one wild pitch later and the Mariners were just 1 run down with a man on and Jesus Montero at the plate. Then a hit, or a bunt or…UGH.

Moments in time…The Seattle Mariners week that was

Brandon League

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell weighs in with another M’s Week That Was. Intended to be a fun column, with lots of laughs and other good stuff. Normally it will be a top 10 list, a la David Letterman style. No hitter vs LA, and two out of three in Anaheim against the Angels highlighted this past week. Ichiro is still playing good ball at the one spot, Felix Hernandez went down with injury, and Stephen Pryor wins his first game amidst the no hitter.

LA Dodgers vs. Mariners: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 1

Dodgers vs. Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the interleague series versus the L.A. Dodgers. The Mariners needed just 1 run, and without it this magic night never happens. Kevin Millwood aside, I think this night really goes to the bullpen. Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League and Tom Wilhelmsen combined for 3 innings, 2 walks, 3 Ks and, of course, o hits.

Mariners vs. LA Angels: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 3

Michael Saunders

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the third M’s game of the series versus the L.A. Angels. Starter Hector Noesi had a rough night, giving up 6 earned runs on 5 walks and 4 hits. To name Seattle 2012 MVP today, the name would be Kyle Seager. The 24-year old is enjoying a fantastic breakout season, leading the Mariner’s in RBI with 32. Thank goodness Ichiro Suzuki is back?!

Mariners vs. LA Angels: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 1

Munenori Kawasaki

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the series versus the L.A. Angels. After three quality starts in a row, Jason Vargas finally cracked. The Mariners starter was lackluster, needing 106 pitches to get through 5.2 innings. Brandon League has been putting his horrible month behind him. The Mariners made a great pick in the draft last night, taking catcher Mike Zunino.
