NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens gives you his opinion on who will be the backup quarterback to Russell Wilson in Seattle. The release of Josh Portis after his alleged DUI helped to clear some things up, as Brady Quinn will likely step into the role due to his experience and talent. Don’t count out Jerrod Johnson, though, as he does has a unique skill set that could prove valuable in Seattle.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Bruce Irvin’s suspension of four games for using banned substances. Seattle’s somewhat surprise of a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, reports have come out that he was suspended for using Adderall, a medication that has become all too familiar with the Seahawks. Last year, Richard Sherman (accused) and Brandon Browner was suspended for four games for using the substance, though Sherman fought his suspension and ended up winning.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson predicts what Seattle’s defensive line will look like in 2013. The Seahawks were one of the top defenses in the league last year. Allowing just 306.2 yards per game, 5.1 yards per play, 15.3 points per game, 103.1 rushing yards per game, and 203.1 passing yards per game, you’d think Seattle would have managed to get to the quarterback more often than not. But that wasn’t really the case.
NWSB Inside and Seattle Seahawks Blogger Brett Bivens brings us his take on the recent extension of Kam Chancellor. Chancellor’s guaranteed money ranks fifth among all NFL safeties. The contract also makes Kam the highest paid strong safety in the NFL. Bivens thinks that the Hawks overpaid to keep their man, but he’s excited to see him roaming the backfield for years to come.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens weighs in tonight on the state of the Hawks prior to the 2013 NFL draft. He weighs in with some draft predictions, his free draft preview, and explains what he thinks are the teams roster weaknesses. He loves the secondary, but says addition of Antoine Winfield in free agency should secure the teams nickelback position. Richard Sherman & Brandon Browner are great, but more depth is needed for starters.
NWSB insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens brings us his take on another Pete Carroll & John Schneider move this week. They signed Brady Quinn to be Russell Wilson’s backup qb for 2013. Brett asks will Quinn be the number 2 guy, an emergency quarterback, or back on the streets come September? Brett says there are several things to be excited about adding Brady to the Seahawks roster. He’s not Josh Portis for starters.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Jordin Ereth brings us his top three candidates for the backup QB spot left empty when Matt Flynn was traded to the Oakland Raiders. Josh Portis is expected to re-sign. Tyler Thigpen leads Jordin’s list of hopeful replacements. He looks to be the least flashy, and most like Russell Wilson’s style of play. The others are two former players Pete Carroll has had some serious man crushes on, Vince Young, and Matt Leinart.
NWSB insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens brings us his take on another free agency signing today that involved the Hawks bringing in yet another D-Lineman, this time Tony McDaniel. This move leads Brett to believe that the slim chance of Alan Branch rejoining the team has faded away. He wanted to see Branch come back to the team, and has a feeling that Alan has overestimated his value. He also fired his agent this week. Tough times.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Jordin Ereth gives you his reasoning why your Hawks should take a run at the Honey Badger. Tyrann Mathieu has killed his draft stock due to his off-field issues and disappointing combine results. This will likely drop him to at least the second or third round, giving the Hawks the opportunity to snag him. Jordin is not saying we should reach on him, but if he is available…Pete Carroll & John Schneider are you listening?
NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Jordin Ereth gives you his 2013 NFL free agency recap thru 3 days for our Seahawks. Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett, Percy Harvin are all on board. DO Pete Carroll and John Schneider have anything left for an encore? All of these moves can only mean one thing: It is super bowl or bust for this Seattle team.
NWSB insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens brings us his take on the breaking news of the Percy Harvin deal. Not only will this bring a top flight NFL receiver (in his prime) to the Seahawks, but also has to bring the Hawks offense up the echelons in the NFC. The biggest questions now will be, will Harvin be able to keep himself healthy this year, and who will be the odd man out in the WR corps.
