Keeping up with the Seahawks: rookie free-agency signings

Lavasier Tuinei

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Matt Church reports today on the 2012 Post draft free agency draft tracker. Only four UDFAs made the team last year, so don’t expect to hear everyone’s name come September (Seattle now has a whopping 11 WRs on the roster). Remember Doug Baldwin folks? He was a UDFA in 2011. Can Jermaine Kearse, Lavasier Tunei, or Rishaw Johnson make the club?

A few things I love about Seattle re-signing Leroy Hill & Matt McCoy

LeRoy Hill

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens tells us on Friday the Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with free agent linebackers LeRoy Hill and Matt McCoy. Both with the club in the 2011/12 season. Hill played in all 16 games for the first time in his seven-year career, registering 89 tackles and 4.0 sacks. Linebacker and special teams stud Matt McCoy also signed a one-year deal.

I love the Marcus Trufant signing by the Seattle Seahawks

Marcus Trufant

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens tells us on Monday the Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with free agent cornerback and former draft pick of the Seahawks Marcus Trufant on a 1 year contract. John Schneider today on KJR Radio with Dave Softy Mahler said he hopes Trufant will come in and compete at the Nickel spot.

Marshawn Lynch – The next Seattle movie star?

Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks

NWSB insider Jason Green updates us on Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s entertaining offseason. In his latest move, he turns thespian. That’s right. Beast Mode is going to be in a movie. That movie, Matt’s Chance, will also feature Edward Furlong, Lee Majors, Margo Kidder and Gary Busey.

Smart signing! Things to know about the Seahawks Frank Omiyale

I love the Matt Flynn signing by the Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks Draft Picks

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens tells us today the Seahawks Pete Carroll can say there is an open competition all he wants but Flynn is not being brought in as anything but the starter. The Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with free agent quarterback Matt Flynn on a 3-year $26 million dollar deal with $10 million guaranteed. NOT backup money.

Quarterback Matt Flynn signs with the Seattle Seahawks

Matt Flynn

NWSB Managing Editor reports today that in 2012 NFL Free agency the Seattle Seahawks have signed former Green Bay Packers quarterback and prized free agent Matt Flynn. He’ll be in competition for the starting quarterback job in Seattle with incumbant Tarvaris Jackson. Pete Carroll has got another QB to try and build this franchise around. We hope it works. More NFL signing to follow hopefully with Visanthe Shiancoe.

Sea-Humor! A few reasons to miss Charlie Whitehurst

Charlie Whitehurst and Pete Carroll

Time for tome Seattle Seahawks humor courtesy of our NWSB Insider Clinton Bell. Who has always seen it as a dream to see one of his Seahawks on a national TV commercial. Be it a nod to the Coke ad of Mean Joe Green, or even a PSA a la Doug Flutie. But honestly, as a fan of both Head and Shoulders, and the long flowing hair of Charlie Whithurst, he should have his day in the San Diego Chargers Sun.

Smart signing! Things to love about the Seahawks Jason Jones

Jason Jones

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks blogger Brett Bivens tells us the Seahawks got their man this week in defensive tackle Jason Jones. Jason signed with Seattle as a defensive tackle but he also has the ability to slide outside and fill in for Red Bryant at the 5-technique if need be. That versatility is something Pete Carroll loves.

Defensive tackle Jason Jones signs with the Seattle Seahawks

Jason Jones

NWSB Managing Editor reports today that in 2012 NFL Free agency the Seattle Seahawks have signed former Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jason Jones. He’ll be another pass rushing option for Gus Bradley and Pete Carroll on their new and improving #9 ranked Seahawks defense. More NFL signing to follow today, hopefully Matt Flynn at quarterback.
