Mariners recap: Series pitching vs. San Diego, Minnesota, Chicago

felix

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. The 2 stars pitched like expected while the bullpen held the fate of the team in their hands way too many times this week. Steady Tom Wilhelmsen has become anything but steady while Carter Capps, his possible replacement has been doing his job quite effectively.

My oh My! Top play of the week for the Seattle Mariners

Nick Franklin

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the ninth week of the year had to be the two homerun game by Nick Franklin against the San Diego Padres. The M’s rallied around the King to pick up the get away day matinee at Petco Park. The bats were out in full force as the Mariners hit five homers on the day, but the real story here was rookie Nick Franklin going deep for the 1st and 2nd time in his young career.

Felix gets downright Franklin against the Padres

Felix gets win number 100 in Houston on Monday night

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners’ blogger gives you his love ‘em and hate ‘em from the final game of the brief series down in San Diego. With the Mariners coming away with a 7-1 triumph that saw Seattle crush five home runs, there was clearly plenty of love to give. Not only does Nick Franklin deserve praise for blasting two home runs in the game, Brendan Ryan found the home run swing as well!

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the fourteenth week of the year had to be the strikeout collection of lone Mariners All-Star Felix Hernandez. With the nasty fastball that Felix has, the M’s haven’t seen this kind of domination since Randy Johnson left town. If the Mariners want Felix to be a star on this team for the future, they better find a way to make him happy and score runs more regularly.

Moments in time…The Seattle Mariners week that was

Dan Wilson

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell weighs in with another M’s Week That Was. Intended to be a fun column, with lots of laughs and other good stuff. Normally it will be a top 10 list, a la David Letterman style. Another bad week for the Mariners in inter-league play. Lost four out of six against the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks, Michael Saunders and Casper Wellls keep hot bats, Felix Hernandez knocks in a pair.

Weekly Seattle Mariners recap: Series pitching vs. Arizona, San Diego, Oakland

Erasmo Ramirez, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. Felix Hernandez, Erasmo Ramirez, and Hector Noesi all put up great performances, but only Felix got the win. This goes hand in hand with the way things have been going this season for the starting rotation. Jason Vargas continued his slide with a poor performance.

Felix Hernandez

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the twelfth week of the year had to be Felix Hernandez’s two RBI double in the second inning Saturday night against the San Diego Padres. With the one run given up on the mound as well, Felix single was a one man wrecking crew against the Padres. The double was on a hanging sinker off of Jason Marquis, scoring both Justin Smoak and Dustin Ackley.

Mariners vs. San Diego Padres: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 3

Hector Noesi, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the third and final game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. Even with strong pitching, the Mariners bats can’t help them win games. The Mariners are now 31-43, seemingly already digging their proverbial grave. The top five hitters had just 2 hits—not including Kyle Seager’s pinch hit double. Edinson Volquez was unsolvable.

Mariners vs. San Diego Padres: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 1

Franklin Gutierrez

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. Jon didn’t find much “good” left to report on in this game, so he highlighted that Ichiro Suzuki once again had a solid night at the plate. Hopefully the 38-year old Ichiro is proving he still has something left in the tank.

Mariners vs. Padres In San Diego: Pitching, series preview, analysis & predictions

Kevin Millwood, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Danny Ferguson reports on the Mariners series matchup with the San Diego Padres. Ryan Vogelsong (5-2 2.26 ERA) takes on Jason Vargas (7-5 3.90 ERA) in the series opener. The offensive woes of the Mariners are not likely to get better with this match up. Game 2, Felix Hernandez on the mound. One game he looks dominate, the next he seems to struggle.

Franklin Gutierrez, Seattle Mariners

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us to him the best “MY oh MY” play of the eleventh week of the year had to be Franklin Gutierrez’s RBI single in the 8th Thursday night against the San Diego Padres. More of a feel good story than one that helped the outcome of the game, Gutierrez’s RBI scored Justin Smoak on a play that we hope to see a lot more of before the season is over.
