Though Portland was seeking to continue the momentum they had built up after a 2-1 win against the San Jose Earthquakes, Alvaro Saborio made sure all eyes were on him. Heading into halftime even at zero, Saborio scored three goals in the second half of the game to give him a hat trick, ultimately sending Portland home in shame.
