Despite the score, Blake Beavan pitched a pretty good game. Eric Wedge was ejected for 2nd time in his M’s career.

The Mariners started the MLB regular season in Japan, taking on Oakland and fighting to a 1-1 split in the opening days. They started off the US Opening Day much better, winning both games in Oakland. Felix Hernandez struggled, but he had a big enough lead behind Chone Figgins and Michael Saunders offensive production to hold on for his first win.
