I don’t know who was out there wearing the Rave Green tonight, but it definitely was not the Sounders team that I have watched all season long. What a mess of a game, sloppy on offense with nobody wanting to take chances, and just plain out played on defense. Now we have the task of winning at least 4-0 to advance to the MLS Cup.

For the first time in their short history in the MLS, the Sounders will be advancing in the playoffs, and now will face off against the Los Angeles Galaxy in a two leg aggregate goal playoff series to determine who will represent the west in the 2012 MLS Cup Final.

Three losses wrapped up in one is how this game went for the Sounders. First was Eddie Johnson going down with injury, second was the loss of the match itself, and third was the loss of second place in the final conference table heading into the playoffs. Galaxy keeper Josh Saunders was the man of the match, keeping out a multitude of excellent scoring chances by the Sounders.

With goals from Freddy Montero, Alex Caskey, and Andy Rose, the 4-0 win was the largest of the year in MLS play for the Sounders. Clean sheet for MIchael Gspurning as well.
