NWSB Insider and Seattle Sounders writer Clinton Bell brings us his Love Em & Hate Em recap from the Sunday night 2nd leg playoff match with the LA Galaxy. The Sounders team that we all love was out there finally tonight, but it was just a little too late. Yes, the Sounders won the game, but they lost the battle to the Galaxy, who now will go on to face the Houston Dynamo for the MLS Cup. A sad end to a great season, one that came prematurely once again.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Sounders writer Clinton Bell brings us his Love Em & Hate Em recap from the Sunday night 1st leg playoff match with the LA Galaxy. I don’t know who was out there wearing the Rave Green tonight, but it definitely was not the Sounders team that I have watched all season long. What a mess of a game, sloppy on offense with nobody wanting to take chances, and just plain out played on defense. Now we have the task of winning at least 4-0 to advance to the MLS Cup.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Sounders writer Clinton Bell brings us his 2012 MLS Playoff preview for the Sounders FC vs. LA Galaxy 2nd round series. The Sounders won the season series against the Galaxy 2 games to 1, but this is the playoffs, and the Galaxy looked strong in their first round series. Seattle will have to find a way to beat Josh Saunders in the first game, to make the 2nd game at home an easier road to the MLS Cup. Michael Gspurning will have his hands full with the plethora of Galaxy shot takers.
Our man C-Mac has his finger firmly on the pulse of the Vancouver Whitecaps in their second season of MLS soccer. C-Mac gives us his playoff match preview of Whitecaps vs. LA Galaxy. NWSB Insider and Vancouver Whitecaps blogger Alistair Corp weighs in with his MLS Playoffs preview for this week’s Whitecaps vs. Galaxy clash. He points out despite the headlines, the predictions and the underdog mentality that the Whitecaps have gladly accepted, they’re not in way over their heads. Dane Richards and Darren Mattocks up front are ready to burn the Galaxy backline if given a chance.
NWSB Insider and Vancouver Whitecaps blogger Alistair Corp weighs in with his post game recap from Saturday. With the 0-0 draw and the Montreal Impact lose earlier in the day, the Whitecaps earn top spot in the Canadian Championship, and thus avoid a first round fight with TFC in next year’s Canadian Championship. For the first time since early July, neither Kenny Miller nor Barry Robson was in Martin Rennie’s starting Xl.
NWSB Editor and Writer Chris Anderson previews tonight’s MLS game between the Portland Timbers and Los Angeles Galaxy. With Spencer out and Gavin Wilkinson in, the Timbers face yet another tough test at home in the form of the Los Angeles Galaxy led by Landon Donovan. Watch for a great matchup between the Portland backs and Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Sounders writer Clinton Bell brings us his report card for the Seattle Sonders FC during the first half of the MLS season. While the injuries have been a problem, Seattle is lucky to be sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference. Top goal goes to Patrick Ianni for his mid air volley against Sporting KC. Best player so far is Osvaldo Alonso, without him, the Sounders would be in a world of hurt.
NWSB Insider and Portland Timbers blogger Blair Thomas reports on the matchup Saturday between the Galaxy and the Timbers. Blair points out first, Portland has only gained the upper-hand once in five matches this season and as evidenced by their defensive efforts, the team needs all of the momentum they can muster early in a match in order to survive at the end of one.
