Clinton Bell profiles one of the Northwests own, Willie Bloomquist of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Born in Bremerton, WA., but raised in Port Orchard, WA., Bloomquist is a true northwest athlete. Playing his high school ball at South Kitsap High School, Willie was drafted by the Mariners, once in 1996, and again in 1999.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Luis Mendoza, RHP 4-6, 4.31 ERA vs. Jason Vargas, LHP, 10-7, 3.91 ERA. Vargas equaled his career high with his 10th win Saturday, holding the Rays to one unearned run in six-plus innings. He’s 3-0 with a 1.77 ERA over his past five starts. Should be good.
