NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Seattle’s 10-game winning streak being snapped by the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.Though it is still very early on in spring training, there were many positives to take away from not only this game, but also from the winning streak. That being said, the Mariners–and especially Blake Beavan–do have some areas to improve in before they are truly ready for the regular season.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Brandon Choate gives us his weekly M’s pitching breakdown in the arms under the spotlight segment. Felix Hernandez was in Cy Young form this week and Kevin Millwood and Erasmo Ramirez were on track for similar starts until injuries derailed them. Jason Vargas threw well while Hector Noesi had another forgettable performance.
Mariners insider Danny Ferguson brings us the Weekly Seattle Mariners notebook. This week Franklin Gutierrez was placed on the 7 day disabled list and Steve Delabar was promoted to take the roster spot. This gives the M’s fewer options off the bench for the next week. The All star game is close. Felix Hernandez is the only guy going. Lets hope the 4 days off will be a good breath of fresh air for the struggling team.
NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Clinton Bell tells us Aaron Heilman, Matt Fox, Sean Henn, Josh Kinney, Jeff Marquez, Oliver Perez, and Trayvon Robinson were roster cuts casualties today for the M’s 2012 roster. For the guys sent down on Saturday, they will have to wait for their shot to be on a big league club again. Maybe mid season call ups, maybe next season.
