Shane Doan implemented a September 15th deadline in which he would sign a contract with a new team. Doan has until 2 PM PST to sign a contract in order for it to be registered in time before the expiration of the current collective bargaining agreement.

The Burnaby born and bred sniper played 20 seasons and now has his number retired by the Colorado Avalanche, the organization he spent his entire career with, including the first few with the Quebec Nordiques. He remains part of the NHL landscape today as Executive Advisor and Alternate Governor for the Avs.
