Tough calls for McClendon coming in just over a week. Speculation continues on Seattle Mariner’s Nick Franklin

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners Blogger Brian Scott talks about the rumors of a Nick Franklin deal, and where he may end up, and for whom. With the signing of Robinson Cano this past off season, either Nick Franklin, or Brad Miller are expendable. For the right price that is. The Mariners are in need of some starting pitching depth, and will most likely move Franklin for a starting pitcher, we would hope. So far these are only rumors, but something could happen in the up coming days.

Seattle Mariners in need of another arm

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners Blogger Clinton Bell is back with an in depth piece about the top two free agent candidates the Mariners are looking at in terms of starting pitching. Ervin Santana or Chris Capuano? Capuano is the latest player to drop his name into the hat of Jack Z, but he may not be the best candidate.

Will the Mariners start the season with two rookies in the rotation?

NWSB Insider Brian Scott gives us his reason the Seattle Mariners should start two rookie pitchers: Taijuan Walker and James Paxton. If you listen to the scuttle out there, it appears the M’s are far more interested in signing another bat (ie Nelson Cruz) rather than another starting pitcher. But if the M’s use their rookies in the rotation, that leaves just one spot.

Kendrys Morales has turned down your qualifying offer. Simply the best: 2013 Pitchers – Seattle Mariners

Although Felix Hernandez garners most of the attention, Hisashi Iwakuma and James Paxton caught Scott’s eye. Scott believes that if there were such thing as a team Cy Young award, Hisashi Iwakuma would deserve it. Paxton also performed well despite playing in just three games.
