Despite his solid stats, Beavan’s season has been plagued by a 46% fly ball percent. In fact, his fly out to ground out ratio is at an ugly 40/30. Elsewhere in the AL West, the Oakland Athletics have ridden a 2-game win streak to 13-13.

The White Sox have won 10 of the past 11 meetings with Seattle, including six straight. John Danks improved 7-4 in 12 starts against Seattle. The Mariners have lost seven of their last eight Sunday games. Kevin Millwood (0-1) allowed five runs on eight hits.

The Mariners started off hot behind Ichiro Suzuki and Justin Smoak’s strong middle of the order performance. It all unraveled in the 5th, though as the Indians scored 7 to tie the game at 8 and eventually went on to score 1 more for the win.

The M’s won’t see another AL West team for twelve more series. Tom Wilhelmsen pitched a near perfect 8th, and Brandon League continued his scoreless streak while picking up the save.

His two egregious puck handling errors, one in each game in these playoffs against the LA Kings, have cost the team in goals against at the most crucial of times. A Mariners team that had gone scoreless for 23 innings finally broke loose in the final two innings to pull out a 4-3 victory snapping a 7 game losing streak to the Rangers. John Jaso, Michael Saunders, Kevin Millwood and Kyle Seager were in fine form.
