NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about the Blazers’ victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night in Minnesota. Portland entered the fourth quarter leading the T-Wolves 77-58, a relatively large margin by NBA standards. But despite this big lead, the game turned interesting as Minnesota was able to put on an impressive fourth quarter, scoring 40 points along the way. A huge block by LaMarcus Aldridge that stopped what could have been a game-tying shot with the clock winding down.

Oilers vs. Canucks: Not as bad as the opener…I guess

Internally, I can’t imagine this weekend changed anything for the Canucks’ long-term goaltending plans. Publically, however, it’s open season on the Roberto Luongo vs. Cory Schneider conversation.

Ducks vs. Canucks: Not exactly home cooking was it?

Maxim Lapierre

Game On Well that was underwhelming. After all the hype and build up, the Canucks first game of the year was absolutely the worst case scenario. It gets better (I hope). Here we go with the love ‘em & hate ‘em! Love ‘Em 1. Rick Ball No Mark Lee. No Kevin Weekes. Even if Kelly […]

Blues vs. Canucks

Vancouver Canucks blogger Richard Hodges Love Em Hate Em hockey blog. He recaps and rewinds the win on Wednesday night in game four to the LA Kings. It’s been a long slow slide for Mason Raymond hasn’t it? His blunder led to the Kings only goal of the night by Anze Kopitar. What a difference an Art Ross winner makes. With Daniel Sedin back in the lineup Henrik Sedin and he prooved whats been missing.

Kings vs. Canucks

The Canucks are evolving in the sense that they’ve learnt to meltdown in the playoffs without Roberto Luongo leading the way. Jannik Hansen is one of the few Canucks who can hold his head high right now.

From Byron Bitz hit on Kyle Clifford, which felt like a classic Aaron Rome game-forfeiting brain cramp to Zack Kassian and his first taste of the playoffs, to Roberto Luongo playing ok, and Vancouver not being able to move the puck. Crazy.

Oilers vs. Canucks

It was overshadowed by the Presidents’ Trophy, but Roberto Luongo picked up his fifth shutout of the year and 60th of his career in an admittedly quiet night for the Oilers offensively. David Booth had a number o glorious chances as he used his speed.

It appears that Marc-Andre Gragnani has played the required number of games to become a restricted and not unrestricted free agent this summer. Enjoy your time in the press box. With Kevin Bieksa, Aaron Rome, and Keith Ballard all due to come back.

Meanwhile, Henrik Sedin set up camp near the face-off dot on the powerplay and hung out with the puck for like two hours while he calculated the percentages of every possible play. Pure Sweetness.

And who steps up in overtime but Andrew Ebbett, fresh off his collarbone injury and ready to remind everyone that he’s still a Canuck. When Jannik Hansen was sprung on a shorthanded breakaway noone thought it would lead to a Calgary goal did they?

Chris Higgins must be excited about the playoffs as well since the winger is doing his best Mikeal Samuelsson in the 2010 playoffs impression over the past week. Tough call for the 3rd spot with guys like Maxim Lapierre, Sami Salo, and Alex Burrows making strong cases.

Despite what Henrik Sedin says, the nice thing about winning by three or four is that you win comfortably and it can’t backfire. Just ask Mark Oliver who was on the receiving end of a beatdown by David Booth in Booth’s second career fight.
