Richard Hodges previews the LA Kings vs Vancouver Canucks March 2nd matchup. Richard says Aaron Volpatti was placed on waivers, presumably to clear a roster spot for Steve Pinizzotto, only to have Ryan Kesler reveal a couple hours later that he’s been playing with a broken foot. The Canucks countered by picking off Tom Sestito from waivers off of the Flyers. A win would go a long way toward calming this city down says Richard.
Richard Hodges previews the Phoenix Coyotes vs. Vancouver Canucks Feb 27 matchup. Richard says this is the Canucks last game of February as they have a three day break before the Kings are in town on Saturday. They better enjoy those three days because it’s their longest until the end of the year. For the Canucks, Kevin Bieksa is battling his groin while David Booth is sick. Both probably won’t play. Cory Schneider will start in net.
Richard Hodges previews the Vancouver Canucks vs. Dallas Stars Feb 22 matchup. Richard predicts Dale Weise drops the gloves with someone, Alex Edler bombs one home on the point and Alain Vigneault is disappointed with Vern Fiddler’s new knock-knock joke. For Dallas, Kari Lehtonen is still battling the groin injury he picked up last week.
Richard Hodges previews the Vancouver Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks Feb 19 matchup. Richard points out the Canucks Andrew Ebbett is on waivers which means that he’ll be abandoned by his large family in Chicago quite like Kevin McAllister was in Home Alone. His demotion means that David Booth is back and that Jordan Schroeder is becoming a regular NHL player.
Bryant Knox previews the Portland Trail Blazers Nov. 10 matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. The Blazers have been tested by quality opponents early, but once this game comes to an end, the schedule will begin to ease up a bit into the foreseeable future. The key matchup in this contest is going to feature Tim Duncan and LaMarcus Aldridge, but the battle between Damian Lillard and Tony Parker will be fun to watch.
NWSB Insider and Portland Timbers blogger Blair Thomas reports on the matchup Saturday between the Galaxy and the Timbers. Blair points out first, Portland has only gained the upper-hand once in five matches this season and as evidenced by their defensive efforts, the team needs all of the momentum they can muster early in a match in order to survive at the end of one.
NWSB Insider and Portland Timbers blogger Blair Thomas reports on the matchup tonight between the Timbers and Chivas USA. Chivas is the worst team in the Western Conference standings, tied with the LA Galaxy (which has only played three matches compared to Chivas’ four). It is a match-up of two teams that have struggled early this season
It’s the final game of the Vancouver Canucks regular season and all they need to do is win against the Edmonton Oilers for a chance at the President’s Trophy and Western Conference title. That being said, there’s also the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers to worry about before any of that can happen. Can Roberto Luongo bounce back after a bad game vs. the Anaheim Ducks? He always does.
Vancouver Canucks Insider Josh Hall is basically writing this game off as a a victory since the Calgary Flames have sputtered to irrelevance at the end of this regular season. Can Jarome Iginla catch the Canucks off guard in hat may be his final game against Vancouver as a Flame? If the New York Rangers lose to the Pittsburgh Penguins, can the Canucks capitalize?
It should be a cakewalk says Vancouver Canucks Insider Josh Hall. With the Calgary Flames all but out of playoff contention, do they have the energy to spoil Vancouver’s chase for the Western crown? Can Henrik Sedin follow up a 3 Assist night vs. Dallas with something better? Will Roberto Luongo be ready to go come puck drop after sitting out with a sore neck Friday?
Is it just me or are the Vancouver Canucks winning but still not getting any credit? Yes, it’s been four in a row now and NWSB Insider Josh Hall says it’s about time we trust the Captain Henrik Sedin. Who will start against the Dallas Stars Friday? Should it be Cory Schneider? He’s the only one to beat them in three tries. Bah humbug to all you bandwagoners. Shame on you.
Hosh Jall, our Vancouver Canucks insider finally has things straightened out since Zack Kassian recorded two points against Buffalo. When things are going the right way and not reversed, JOSH says that Roberto Luongo and Kari Lehtonen of the Dallas Stars would make for a very interesting goaltending 1st round matchup. Also, what’s this noise about Josh and gelatin? Ryan Kesler loves it…or the Sedins are made of it?
