To make room for Kelley, fellow reliever Erasmo Ramirez was sent down to Tacoma in a move that skipper Eric Wedge says is to condition him for a possible emergency starter role with the big league club.

The Mariners started off hot behind Ichiro Suzuki and Justin Smoak’s strong middle of the order performance. It all unraveled in the 5th, though as the Indians scored 7 to tie the game at 8 and eventually went on to score 1 more for the win.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners baseball blogger Danny Ferguson tells us to go from 30 down to 28, Carlos Peguero and Chance Ruffin were optioned to Tacoma, and Guillermo Quiroz was re-assigned to minor league camp. To get down to 25, the team deactivated Kevin Millwood, Hector Noesi, and Hisashi Iwakuma for the two games in Japan. The M’s front office and Eric Wedge could still change their minds before next week.

Youth Movement in Seattle – Mariners release Kuo, Camp and Jimenez

This week the M’s released Hong-Chih Kuo, Shawn Camp, and Cesar Jimenez. Making the Mariners starting five Jason Vargas, Felix Hernandez, Hector Noesi, Kevin Milwood, and Blake Beavan.
