NWSB Insider Steve Lee takes a look at two franchises that are not living up to expectations: the Vancouver Canucks and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are in shambles after a move that was supposed to see Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Dwight Howard leading the way, while the ‘Nucks are in rebuilding mode after trading Robert Luongo.
NWSB Insider and NBA Blogger Steve Lee wonders where in the world Steve Nash is. The former Phoenix Sun (and Dallas Maverick) has virtually disappeared with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Team Canadian hero has dealt with injuries throughout the twilight of his career, and now the question is: Can he lift L.A. to relevancy after failing to do so alongside Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol in Year 1.

This past week, the team went 4-0, taking down the Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers and Detroit Pistons. With his team leading the entire NBA in the standings, Stotts has to be considered a Coach of the Year candidate with Frank Vogel, Scott Brooks and Gregg Popovich.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox gives us his weekly analysis of Portland Trail Blazers head coach, Terry Stotts. This past week, the team went 2-1, losing to the Houston Rockets and defeating the Sacramento Kings twice. Throughout the week, Stotts did a good job of preaching defense behind the scenes. That said, he must find a way to get the team, including Robin Lopez and LaMarcus Aldridge, to defend the paint. NWSB Editor Bryant Knox brings us his weekly video recap of the Portland Trail Blazers. In Week 2, the team from the Pacific Northwest went 2-1, dropping the first game to the Houston Rockets and redeeming itself twice against the Sacramento Kings. Damian Lillard, LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews and Joel Freeland are among the players who stood out the most for Rip City.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox recaps the previous week’s star player for the Portland Trail Blazers. In Week 2, honors go to LaMarcus Aldridge. In contests against the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings (twice), L.A. averaged 21 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks. He also shot an impressive 50 percent from the field. The only areas where he can improve is on the glass — although Robin Lopez will help.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox gives us his weekly analysis of Portland Trail Blazers head coach, Terry Stotts. This past week, the team went 2-1, losing to the Phoenix Suns and defeating the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs. Throughout the week, Stotts did a good job of establishing a rotation between Damian Lillard, Wesley Matthews and Mo Williams. That said, he must find a way to get the starters fewer minutes, and getting Meyers Leonard more time will help also.
NWSB Insider Steve Lee gives us a look at which NBA players from the Great Northwest must have a solid year during the 2013-14 season. First and foremost, Steve Nash must prove to the Los Angeles Lakers that he is still an elite point guard. Also making the list is Isiah Thomas of the Sacramento Kings, Jamal Crawford of the Los Angeles Clippers, Martell Webster of the Washington Wizards and Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox breaks down Damian Lillard’s recent prediction on ESPN’s TrueHoop TV that the Portland Trail Blazers will win 46 games during the 2013-14 NBA season. The question here is whether the Rookie of the Year is crazy or confident? Teams such as the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves will be drastically improved, and even the Los Angeles Lakers can compete if Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash are healthy. Rip City has the talent to push for Lillard’s prediction, but the competition will be stiff.
NWSB Editor Bryant Knox breaks down the rumors surrounding LaMarcus Aldridge and the Portland Trail Blazers. ALdridge’s name has been dropped in trade rumors as of late. It was reported aroudn the NBA Draft that the power forward was unhappy in Portland, and soon after it was reported that his camp began discussing trades with Neil Olshey. David Lee has already been offered to the Blazers, but Portland declined.
