NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson recaps what was Oregon’s surprising and outstanding 2012-2013 college basketball season. Picked to finish seventh in the Pac-12 by the Pac-12 Media Poll, the Ducks outplayed their competition throughout the year en route to their first Pac-12 Tournament Championship since 2008. Though they eventually lost to Louisville in the Sweet 16 of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, the Ducks upset both Oklahoma State and St. Louis while putting the program back on the college basketball map.
NWSB Insider Jason Hartzo weighs in on the 2012-13 season had by Oregon Ducks head coach Dana Altman. This was a very respectable effort from Dana Altman’s Ducks, and it was the first time in the head coach’s career that he made it past the second round. As long as Altman is the man in Eugene, this will be a team near the top for years to come—especially with freshman guards Dominic Artis and Damyean Dotson set to return.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson recaps Oregon’s upset win over the St. Louis Billikens on Saturday. Forwarding their momentum from their victory over Oklahoma State, the Ducks used impressive efforts from Damyean Dotson and Arsalan Kazemi to keep their season going. Despite the win, however, the Ducks still need to cleanup their turnover issue and get Dominic Artis back to continuous production.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Oregon’s big win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Ducks used a furious attack on the boards as well as an impressive effort form the three-point line to ease past a dangerous OSU team. Eliminating the production of Marcus Smart as well as letting Arsalan Kazemi go beast mode were big contributions in giving Oregon the victory.
NWSB insider and resident hoops blogger Steve Lee is back once again to give us his personal touch on the 2013 NCAA Men’s basketball Tournament. He says the PAC12 had a relatively lackluster regular season, but the conference tournament was one of the best in recent memory. Homegrown talent either matched preseason expectations or came out of nowhere to surprise everyone. He says watch Kelly Olynyk, Peyton Siva, Dominic Artis, Damyean Dotson and more this week.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Oregon’s recent performance in the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament as well as their 12 seed in the upcoming NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. While it was great to see the Ducks win the Pac-12 Tournament for the first time since 2008, their 12 seed is a complete joke and they deserve to be ranked higher. That being said, playing the underdog card throughout the rest of the season won’t be a bad thing, either.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson previews the matchup between the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies in the 2013 Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament. Though the Huskies are coming off a win in the first round over the Washington State Cougars in thrilling fashion, the Ducks should be able to draw from their two prior victories over Washington and formulate a solution that will lead them to victory. Look for this game to be thrilling and a lot of fun.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about what the Oregon Ducks need to do to get back on track before the Pac-12 Tournament and NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Ducks are a much better team when they play the style of basketball that Dana Altman has groomed them to play, and that is driving to the post and getting the edge on the inside with their big men Arsalan Kazemi and Tony Woods.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Oregon’s terrible loss to the Colorado Buffaloes. Though they will still have a shot to win the Pac-12 on Saturday against Utah, Oregon’s more than humiliating loss to the Colorado Buffaloes on Thursday meant that they could very well end up sharing the Pac-12 Title with UCLA. Oregon would still claim the No. 1 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament with a win on Saturday.
NWSB Editor and Writer Chris Anderson previews Oregon’s upcoming basketball games that will determine what seed the Ducks take in the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. While Dominic Artis’ return is still in question, Oregon can manage to strengthen their seed by continuing the play from their past three games.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Oregon’s No. 21 ranking in the latest AP Top 25. After a few years spent being the Pac-10/12 college basketball punching bag it looks as though the Ducks are back from the depths and ready to show the nation that the University of Oregon is much more than just a football school.
NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson talks about Oregon’s huge victory over the Arizona Wildcats. Once the laughing stock of the Pac-12 in 2008 and 2009, Oregon made a huge statement last night as to how far they have come under Altman as they took down the undefeated Arizona Wildcats at a rowdy and boisterous Matthew Knight Arena by the score of 70-66.
